Yes, I see the relationship. More here than most might think. I believe in a few short words you revealed the symphonic and delicate balance of nature. Good luck with the contest!

The sound of crickets on a warm summer evening is relaxing... Nice to know they also make a great alarm clock for the night owl! Love your "grass" waving in the summer breeze in your image. Nice 5-7-5!

Hi Michelle
This is a strong imaginative metaphor in this poem about the crickets chirping and owls waking up. The artwork is a good choice.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest,
Joan

One of the best things about my recent visit to my brother's home in rural Indiana was the sound of the crickets during the night - all night, it seemed. I never heard any owls, but there was a night owl in the living room watching old westerns until one and two o'clock every night:-)
Great poem and presentation - good luck with the contest.

Hi, Shelley.
Your 5-7-5 poem presents the reader with the familiar sounds of the night - the chirping of crickets and the screech of an owl. Here in NZ I would replace the latter with the more comforting call of the ruru or morepork, our native owl, but maybe that would defeat the purpose of the slightly sinister turn in your poem.
Good luck in the contest.

Excellent entry for the 5-7-5 Poetry Contest.
I like the presentation with concrete imagistic words easy to visualize.
Good syllables count and connection between lines.
Good luck!

It took me a second. I had to reread the last line. I got it and had not put it together yet at the same time. When I did, it was great. I can see an owl bopping a cricket on the head, hitting the snooze button.

Good coverage off all the creatures that appeared in the darkness.
This reminds us of the dark period in our society like crickets are heard not seen. Many politicians talk about good policies but nothing was done.
Thanks for sharing

The night sounds we hear when all is quiet and dark. You captured those moments when there is no talking just listening. I love the blowing grass in the evening light. Very apt picture.

What a great 575 site entry! The first two lines of this poem flow and
connect well. The last line says it all! The last line of this poem resonated
with me as the sound of the crickets become an alarm! As the birds sing
in the morning, I know it is time to get up! The artwork is awesome!
Hi Shelley, have a great day....Maria
