I love your poem. It is not so very different here in Michigan. It has been like a roller coaster this year. We had a blizzard Saturday, and it is forty degrees on Tuesday. Good luck in the contest.

Good luck wishes regarding the prompt entry, Debi. I loved the picture, it showed miles and miles of snow. Brrr, I can only imagine the coldness of Minnesota. I was born in Canada, so I know the cold, lol. Your words showed the whole year. Very well done and greatly enjoyed. Blessings n Hugs!!! Happy New Years!

I live in eastern n.c. it can get cold but not Minnesota cold. The mid teens occasionally. But we still have mosquitos in December and January. We all have our weather issues but not quite like yours. Gretchen

Happy New year Gretchen! I really appreciate your very kind review and comments for my " waiting' poem.
'We're starting out badly here. Last wk temps minus thirty, close to minus seventy windchill temp and when the wind blew, we had a blizzard. Now tomorrow supposed to be the same. As much as those scenarios can happen, we have had a mild winter here and there.....in my lifetime. Lol!. Thanks again my dear friend!

That's a good one, Debi. Minnesota winters are more severe than the ones here in Maine. I live on the coast where the winters are not too bad, but we have some doozies up north.

I can't even imagine such cold weather! No wonder you look forward to spring. We often have a mild winter and not very long for spring and autumn, and then we are back into the heat of summer which can be very draining. This year not too bad though. best wishes for your excellent entry in the contest.

You really set the winter scene well Debi, especially or those of us who have never lived in such weather. I was thinking of our wait, here, where we wait for the humidity to drop down. Seems the weather has a hold on us. I love the picture, so picturesque. Lovely read,
cheers,
valda

We do a lot of waiting here in our state, too. The months go too slow in the winter. Good thing there is basketball to speed the warmth up. Really like your poem. Very well written.

Rosemary, you are so precious! I thank you with all my heart for your lovely review and such kind words for my poem. Also for the gracious gift of the six stars. You mentioned your state, but was wondering which one? This poem has helped me to know so many great friends even better by knowing where they are from. Thank you again my wonderful friend!

I live in the Midwest, state of Wisconsin. I'm never a lover of winter as I am older, but I have to remember when you're younger perhaps they like the winter activities.
-
Awe, we are neighbors. We have some really good friends in Wisconsin that we love our Packers/Vikings rivalry with.
-
Yes, we are neighbors. Love that idea, too. What part of MN do you live? You probably said already.
-
I live near Buffalo. Do you remember hearing in Feb of 21, about the Allina shooting at bombing? That was the clinic I go to in Buffalo. And I had an appointment that morning at the time it happened, but I got a really bad headache and didn't feel safe to drive. So I called and cancelled. Then all of a sudden my daughter called and said, mom are you ok. I know you had the appt and heard about that crazy guy. I hadn't heard until then, but so happy I wasn't there. One of my friends that works there was shot five times and survived, but will never be the same mentally or physically again.
I wrote a poem called Deadly Shooting at Allina Clinic if you ever want more details. I really don't leave anything out.
-
Is the poem on your profile? I'll read it soon. What an awful tragedy!
-
Yes it is.
-
Are you a fan of the Vikings? Who is going to win today?
-
Ok Rosemary, here is my honest opinion. Since I am way too familiar with the pattern of the Vikings. I see that with them in GB, means a win for your guys. Then I see if the Packers, get a playoff ticket or wildcard, then I see they will kick us out the first round. That is what happens to the Vikes every time they get a chance to make something of their division championship. Lol!!
They haven't been in a Super Bowl since the 70s. Not holding my breath neighbor.
Aren't I a true blue fan??

I can't imagine living in Minnesota. I see all the disasters caused by the snow storms up north and I just shake my head in dismay.
Here in the Houston area, we had freezing temperatures for three days. It's always such an ordeal for us, worrying about our pipes breaking. Today all my windows are open and it's spring time. All that dripping, dripping dripping of the water faucets (to avoid freezing) was driving me crazy.
But last winter was worse. We all lost our power during a freeze. I kept waiting for another power disaster, but - yippie - I didn't have to stay in bed under a ton of blankets this year.
Anyway, you're produced such a delightful poem. I love the line about 'wait' being a new four letter word. How clever of you! Hugs, Lilly

Lily, thank you for this beautiful review, the lovely words and the gracious gift of six stars. I love that through this poem, I am learning so much more about my already wonderful friends. I knew that Jan and Terry were from Texas, but I didn't know that about you. I also know that when we had our artic blast last week, you were also getting clobbered with cold for Texas temps. Here we got 16 inches of snow and then 66mph winds that made for a horrible blizzard and took our minus 25 to a minus 70 windchill. It's so horrible for the homeless...... Once again, I thank you with all my heart, my very dear friend!

The photo you posted of the field behind your house, pairs perfectly with your description of fidget cold weather. With a bit of humor, your poem allows the reader to easily envision waiting almost all year for the warmth of spring. I always enjoy reading your work. Best wishes in the contest.

Cute poem, Debi. I lived in Minnesota for four years. We used to joke that we'd plan a picnic for the one day of summer we had! Land of 10,000 lakes, and I was always too cold to swim. Good flow, good rhymes, and good humor. Blessings. Carol

Oh, dear. It's been cold here and very windy, but it warmed up for a few days and all the snow is melted -- just in time for the next front to move in. Happy New Year! Stay warm and safe.

Minnesota is really a beautiful state. Although I didn't enjoy the cold, we were outdoors all winter with youth group kids. We moved when my husband graduated from Bethel Seminary & took a pastoral position in Illinois.
