This IS an odd thanksgiving :) One thing, though, I found an error: "I know your sad that she is sick" should be, "I know YOU'RE sad that..." anyway, this was a hilarious tale, thank you for sharing :)

Awe, thank you so very much GG!. You are always so sweet and I appreciate your very lovely words. It truly was a hard time on me and my hubby knew I would have done it all myself if he didn't fool me. I was so happy when I found out we weren't having deer hearts on a stick. He was trying to make me more appalled so I wanted to be gone that morning.
It is always so nice to hear from you and have you review my posts. So appreciated! Thanks also for your feedback about the word you're. Sometimes my autocorrect puts the wrong word in and I did catch it while editing the font. But I love being told, so thank you for that.
Thank you again my dear friend.

Someone must be crazy to pass on pumpkin pie. I enjoyed
your fun contest entry, Mystery Author. I like the way the
family members (minus Dad) tried to confuse him with their
wants. I could hear them all shouting their preferences. If
Dad had gotten his way, that would've been a major Thanksgiving
bomb--fun way of describing a fiasco. All the foods sounded
great at other times. I was thrilled Mom had this planned and
would let a celebration with traditional foods and important
people miss the family celebration. Your picture choice was
perfect. Great job with the smooth flow and rhymes, too.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thanks Jan, this actually did happen. My hubby didn't want me to do all the work cause he knew I was worn out from helping my parents. It was at a time that my mom was sick w cancer and she knew that he had this surprise for me, so she kept me there just long enough for all my siblings to bring in the real Thanksgiving food, tables set and fancy wine glasses too. The kids were even in on it and kept it from me. They did great and really had me fooled. Sometimes people can do special things in strange ways to show they love you! Thanks for all your sweet words for my poem.

Author, I really liked this one. Last year, for the first time, we decided we didn't want to cook for Thanksgiving, so we all went out. It was wonderful... except for one thing. No leftovers! So, we all ended up making our own turkey dinners at our own homes just for that, after the day, when the things were on sale.
This year, turkeys are going for $5.00/lb.! This year people just might need to be eating lasagna or having a fish fry!

So appreciated your kind review. $5.00 a pound? Good thing my daughter does Thanksgiving now! But ouch that Hurts, like all the other high prices.
Thank you again my friend.

Thats here, where they're coming from. I don't even want to think what they're going for if they're being shipped somewhere. From what I heard, there was some kind of turkey disease this summer all over the Midwest, where many of them come from, so the only ones left are the ones here in the east and feed has been so expensive this year that they're expensive already. Now there are so few, comparatively speaking. I'm betting that this year, there won't be all those turkeys on sale after Thanksgiving.

I believe you are right about that. Too bad tho! I hope we don't have to resort to a fish fry! Lol

Well, I loved the ending as it turns out she had the best Thanksgiving ever but it took a while of reading this to get to the ending. I loved the picture of the turkey holding a beer in one hand and something else in the other. I think this is the kind of family humor I don't get because my family is now all gone. And I wish they would never come back they caused me a lot of grief and I only wish I had my childhood back.

Jesse, you have a family who truly loves you now. You and I have much in common, but in a different way. I lost my childhood due to molestation and was threatened if I ever told, my dad would be hurt bad. So I lost my childhood to evil and fear, but my family wasn't to blame. I hope you know that we are here for you and I hope you feel the love,
Thank you so much for your very kind comments about my silly poem dear friend.

Wow. I am overwhelmed with feelings of remorse for ever saying bad things about this poem. I didn't know it was a kind and caring individual who wrote it.

Oh Jesse, I didn't think you said anything bad. You were only telling about why you couldn't understand. I took no offense, in fact my heart broke for you. I meant that you truly have a family with us and are dearly loved. Don't ever forget that.

I will try not to forget it.

Wow! The author's words were descriptive, interesting, suspenseful, and
creative. I thought about how I jump to conclusions sometimes and all goes well. The author's description of the scene were thought provoking and ended with a wonderful surprise! Awesome Artwork - Great Poem!

Awe, thank you so very much Maria!. You are always so sweet and I appreciate your very lovely words. It truly was a hard time on me and my hubby knew I would have done it all myself if he didn't fool me. I was so happy when I found out we weren't having deer heats on a stick. Which sounded horrible. He was trying to make me more appalled so I wanted to be gone that morning. It is always so nice to hear from you and have you review my posts. So appreciated! Thank you again my dear friend.

This piece of work has several humorous moments.
I can tell a lot of this came from real life experience.
Thank you for sharing such a fine work!

I wish I was Sandra. You said such nice things to her. But alas, I am not but poor Douglas. 😳

Haha! Since I have had Covid, I found that I was so weak, typing the same message over and over for the people I had to thank in the same way, so for them I copied the words that I was using for some of the others and adding a personal touch. Sorry about getting mixed up on yours. The message was still meant for you with the same sentiments.

Awww. Thank you. Your are back in my super cool awesome wonderful special really neat superfly buddy bud column!!!

Oh good. I don't ever want to lose my spot there. Lol! Y'know Doug, you're a pretty special guy!

If my name was Edward would they call me Special Ed?
On a serious note, thank you. You have a kind soul. I look forward to seeing your next work. Goodnight!

Lol, but if you were related to Lucille Ball, for sure I'd call you goof ball! Sense of humor is my favorite quality in people! hehe!
