Well, Paul, that did answer all those questions. I enjoyed reading your
fun contest entry. You did a super job haring this story in a poem.
The lines read smoothly with good rhyme and created great imagery.
I know the original poem, and this one fits right in.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thanks, Jan. I had to get the permission from the spirit of Robert Service for this one.

Very clever, Paul. Alaska doesn't sound very inviting and it's not just the weather. As your poem points out:
Those old muddy streets
Had cutthroats and cheats
Just waiting to take us both down.
The narrator seems to be in much better physical shape than poor Sam. LOL

Thanks, Shari. Yes, Sam was suffering from too much guitar playing and not enough exercise.

This is phenomenal. As a teen, I memorized The Cremation of Sam McGee, and performed it at a church gathering. The Creation of Sam is quite creative and was a joy to read. Best wishes in the contest.

This poem is excellent and does a marvelous job of telling a complete story in a poem. I enjoyed the story, and it held my attention as I waited to see what would become of Sam. Best of luck in the contest.

Thanks for the review. I think we all knew what was going to happen to Sam. We just didn't know how he got to Alaska.

Loved every line!
Your storyline is very creative.
Rhymes are not forced.

That was awesome and I truly enjoyed reading it. My family and I lived in Alaska for 7 years. Although I was young, I still remember a lot about it and have been to many of the places in the poem. I always remember watching the northern lights, even from Juneau several times. In fact, one night it was snowing lightly, the northern lights were out and there were 2 rumbles of thunder! I'll never forget that!!
Thanks for sharing, brought back some fond memories for me!
