Well, I am glad you didn't take my advice, this is hilarious! I love the compass story. I think you have a good entry and good luck in the contest. A very good story. Terry.

Don't worry Elaine has a propensity to lose herself, as does my elder child's husband Nick, one day she rang me up, thinking she was on the right road, because she recognised hallmark, when I asked where she was, it turned out she was heading south instead of north, I guided her back safely on the phone, I was willing to go and get her, but she cooled down and made it home. Nobody has a sense of direction really Barbara, get lost in a desert without landmarks, we'd all walk in circles, God seems to have equipped certain species of animals and insects with an inner compass though. Ask Him for one. Beautifully written Barbara, blessings Roy

Thank you for the support. Once when I was a child, my grandpa had a heart attack, so mom flew out immediately. Dad had to clear somethings for work before we could all go. Dad appointed me to read the map. We were traveling from Illinois to Oklahoma. As we were driving into my grandparent's driving, I kept insisting we were on the wrong road. I'm glad Dad didn't pay any attention. LOL

You must be related to Elaine heh heh

What a fun and entertaining story that I thoroughly enjoyed. Now, I only wish that I wasn't already out of sixes so early on Tuesday of the week, so that I could reward it properly. Thanks for sharing.

I think it's a great little post that articulates the frustrations we feel in situations like this. And also how it leads to misunderstandings and friction with the people around us, even people we care about and are married too. The frustrations of the moment can overwhelm any larger committments we make. estory

I loved this story, Barbara. It actually brought on a chuckle. I have many faults but one of them is not losing my way. I'm so avery good navigator. All the best of luck with this little gem. Ulla:)))

Humor scattered throughout these incidents. Some Notes:
-"directions dyslexic" is a good term for the ailment that haunts many people.
-In my Army days, I was stationed in Ansbach and Katterbach, by Neurnberg in Bavaria from 1983 to 1986. A fairly nice place at that time.
-"to southern part of the country' should be to the southern part of the country.
-Tossing the map out the window would have been a hysterical sight to behold, so would the tossed compass.
-"shone enough" should be shown enough.
-"here and back" should be there and back.
-Technology, like Google maps, a fine thing if one knows how to use it properly.

Since using it. I haven't been lost. As long as I remember to bring my charger with me. LOL Thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

I can definitely relate to being directionally impaired but over 41 years of marriage to Mr. Compass, some of his skills have rubbed off. I laughed at your tossing the map! I think all directions should be given in context of other visual cues not North! It's great that your husband and son look after you! Best wishes in the contest!

You and I are two peas in a pd when it comes to getting lost. Growing up, my mother told me I couldn't find my way out of a wet paper sack. I thanked the good Lord when someone invented the GPS. Now that I don't travel as much, I have to relearn it when I get in the car. You did a great job, and I believe we always make it to where we are supposed to be. Shirley

I enjoyed reading your contest entry, Barbara. Your picture
choice was perfect for your telling words. Great job with the
supporting examples. I could see each one as I read due to
your use of descriptive words which created great imagery.
Yes, your life was changed by your hubby, son, and GPS. I
laughed about throwing the map out the car window.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Listen, since I have been reading your various posts, especially your stories, I have thoroughly enjoyed each read. So, for me my feelings are do not change a thing, You just keep on being you and you will be just fine. People who are extra correct and never make mistakes, are secretly hated by those of us who are not perfect and are prone to making occasional mistakes. That is the thing that makes us lovable.
