Simplistically written and yet spot on. What we give in life eventually returns. It's nice to have the shoe fit another's foot, though I've not experienced it since I was infertile, but that's okay, I've got a pet.

Parenting is sometimes a comedic nightmare that's for sure. And the challenges only change with age. It's wonderful that your children are there for you when you need them. Gives you peace of mind I'm sure. Raising my 4 has been the most awesome and rewarding thing I've ever done. Hands down. I can tell you feel the same. Wonderful poem.

Gretchen, you are so kind and I appreciate your honest and so true comments. After the Holy Trio, my family is the most important part of my existence. Thanks for the lovely review my friend!

Yes, life comes full circle. They learn that their parents were right as they face their own offspring. But it's lovely when they turn up to help their aging parents, willingly, and with love. I enjoyed your poem, it was fun as well as a lesson learnt. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

I think that children helping adults is a wonderful and beautiful idea. I know they aren't adults yet but sometimes they are right. Excellent work! No grammatical errors. Good luck in the contest!

I love this! I have yet to have children, as I am only in my 20s. But, it's funny... my mom told me that for every mistake I made, just wait! "Wait until YOUR daughter sneaks out at night. Wait until YOUR daughter cuts her bangs before picture day."

Awe Liz, you are so very sweet! And I love that you found the humor in it w/o having kids. You did not cut your bangs, did you Liz?? Lol.
My daughter's hair was down to her waist at 4 yrs old and I kept it trimmed to keep it looking good and to get her bangs the same length as her hair. Then one night while I was at work, my husband fell asleep on the couch while she cut her bangs. This mama bear was angry! Hahaha!
So once your handsome beau proposes you will be on your way.
Thanks Sweetie for such a lovely review and kind words.

Oh I absolutely did do that. I stole the kitchen scissors and cut my bangs in the backyard behind some trees so I wouldn't get caught. I was something else.

Hahaha! You are so darn sweet and funny! Did I mention cute? hehe!

The illustration for this poem fits so well. The poem is humorous and rings very accurate. The line about keeping stories straight seems to be in the present tense, yet the line above indicates the past tense. Possibly some adjustment could be used there.
Best wishes.

You are welcome.

Your poem expresses the cycle well, from toddlers, to terrible teens, to adults with families. Then the toddlers grow up to be a blessing and assist their parents. When it works properly, the cycle of life is beautiful. I wish you the best in the contest.

very powerful and moving poem about family like the last stanza the best
We are a little older and are entering our peak
We recently had setbacks, that made us both so weak
Without our children's help, things might've looked more bleak
The roles are now reversed; I think I like this new technique

What a fine poem. You describe your kids' transformation from their childhood to adult years. They changed, their ways and manners changed, life puts its touch of wisdom on us as we grow older.
A fine imagery, visuals and a superb presentation and font.
Good luck in the competition.
