I don't know if this qualifies as your "best" high school memory, but it is well done. I remember that day as well. I was walking to class on campus with my ROTC uniform on.

Paul, thank you for reading. Our memories sometimes are the best, this memory could not be forgotten.

You did a really good job of writing this up and for us older folks it brought tears to the eyes remembering that day. It is interesting that you played football that night in Texas, but then the voting for Kennedy probably did account for that. I had never heard that last detail about his visit to Arlington.

That was a sad day, President Kennedy was idolised by millions, and to lose his life so young, too. I can understand why this memory stands out more than any of the others, it was a day America went into mourning. Well done, this was an excellent contest entry. Good luck! :)) Sandra

Sandra, thank you. It is the most memorable day from high school.

I thought you did a wonderful job of sharing a memory that the entire nation shared. It also describes a different time where we respected our leaders. I'm afraid that isn't the case anymore. Very well written for me especially since it shows how things have changed.

It seems strange to me to see this presented as your "best" memory. Most memorable certainly, but I would associate "best" with happiness and joy. Still, it is extremely well-written, and it is very interesting to have a teenager's POV of those dramatic events, and that coming from a town who was anti-Kennedy (note: I am from the other side of the pond, and too young to have known that time. You say your parents were democrats it seems pro-Kennedy in a town that is anti-him). Kate xx
