Terry, WOW! What a story! Your family could keep a secret, but at least they spoke about it when approached--not the same on this side of the computer. At the end, God blessed Yvonne and Jacque with twenty-six years together to get to know each other. Well told. The mind can never imagine what Man will truly do. Keep the blue waters flowing. Six stars for you. Margaret ~ LateBloomer

Terry,

This is fantastic. I like the way you have developed telling stories from two points of view. I think everyone has some kind of story in their family tree about illegitimacy or adoption, but not so many about kidnapping and happy endings. Just one editing note below.

"Closed lips" ==> "closed lipped"

Funny, how family secrets and history eventually are uncovered years later. Jack seemed to want Jacque as a way to get back at Yvonne.
A very well-told and fascinating story that keeps your reader engaged until the end.
Best wishes,
Mary

Very nicely written. Good work.
Dear John letter situations are tough. Yes, the girl/wife at home has needs/and can 'fall in love', but it is not the soldier/marine/sailor's fault, or in his control. I fault the usurping man who should know her man is away at war, and should expect to be shot dead when he gets home.
Sorry for my rant.
Best wishes.

What a compelling story. You are brave to bare it with the public. I cannot imagine living it myself, though I suspect there are not many that haven't lived some sort of tragedy. :-(

What a sad story. But I'm really so pleased they got to know each other and all was well. But that was so mean of them to take Jacque away from her mother, the agony at not knowing where she was must have been awful. So many children were stolen and many were never found. I'm glad your aunty found her daughter again. It was a lovely story, but so sad as well. :) Warm hugs, Sandra xxx

"She died in 1980. I know now she stole me from my mother. In her mind, she saved me. Maybe she did. She devoted her life to me." What a FACINATING read...WOW! My partner and I were glued to this almost unreal story, the fact is is true and so poignantly and well written makes it s surefire six I was glued to it and find it so brilliant that it could deserve no less than a six. Amazing family story it could even be made into a book fantastic and well done kindest regards Kevin.

That's a great story, Terry. It's funny how we get interested in our family history as we get older. I am lucky. Almost all of my family have lived in the same area for the past 100 years.

This is a sad story with a happy ending and reminded me of some long lost family I found then lost again. I liked the way you told the story from both sides. Thank you for sharing and have a great weekend.

This is a really sad story, the extreme custody battle, I guess. Unfortunately, custody battles seem to go with messy divorces. It's always the children that suffer, and it seems that Jacque's suffering was particularly pronounced. Kate xx
PS If I were you I would revise the second sentence (maybe 'her two sisters lived near their mother in Abilene...'). As it is it's hard hiking for the reader to wade his way through the different generations.
