Here're a couple changes you might consider -
30 day wait instead of 3
AR 15, not 14
ban large capacity magazines for all semi-automatic weapons
eliminate all gun show exemptions
stiff penalties for violation

This is extremely well thought out and developed in a logic way and I agree with everything you say. The only thing I would add is the anyone in congress who disagrees with the majority of the public and who stalls or votes against this should be voted out of office. They are afraid of the gun lobby but I hear the NRA is about bankrupt anyway. I hope we put them our of business.

I am so very, very happy that you did not. I so hope people will take note of how their reps and their senators vote and listen to what their governors and Lt. governors are saying. Sometimes, I am appalled when I hear Senator Cruz (I live in Texas) and think he has children and he's willing to do and say the things he does. thanks again. ann

This is a very well-written logical commentary on the gun control problem in this country. Kudos to You! When citizens and politicians place the rights of an 18-year-old to buy assault weapons and ammo over the rights of a bunch of elementary kids and teachers to live. There is evil in the country. I agree with you a hundred percent, Ann. And even conservative Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger said that bizarre use of the second amendment a fraud. It's the gun lobbyists who are behind it. So glad you wrote this!!

The problem stands that there are no real solutions; that being said (and I know we have to start somewhere), the number of assault weapons already in the hands of these lunatics is of a proportion we can't even imagine. I came to the conclusion years ago that we are beyond the point of no return. I haven't given up on finding a way out of this; I've given in that it won't be soon enough for our children, seemingly the number one targets of mass shooters. Best, JohnC
