This chapter is well-written and full of intrigue, Sandra. We will all be waiting with baited breath to see what will happen at the party. Obviously Miles' father will be making some moves to stop him from being with Meg.

Thank you so much for another of your lovely reviews, Judy. Lord Brandon isn't going to give up that easily, but he needs to be careful, sometimes things come back to bite you. Have a lovely week, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Thrilling turn of events. I hope Gwen gets away with it.
As to notes:
Mr Turnbull: Gwendolyn's father. ... He marries her off to [Miles=>RICHARD?], who is now penniless, but still inherited his father's title. The marriage benefitted both Mr Turnbull, and Richard.

Well spotted, Liz!! Thank you, I've put that right now. Thanks for reading this chapter, my friend. I saw you'd posted and went to read it, but I'd already reviewed you. Can standards post new writing? If, yes, let's have some more!! Warm hugs, my friend. xxxx Sandra x

Thanks for checking it out--several fans had already read it--no privileges to even edit existing work--I cringe to contemplate spag citations, and I have to explain why I can't correct them.

The objective correlative of your work reminisces a dye cast for Richard Crawley's bid to bring about a stalemated marriage proposal from Miles to Margot.
The work highlights Lord Brandon's riled up posture; his immediate storming out of the Gentlemen's Club to the chagrin of most of those present there, who held Miles dear to their hearts; Richard Crawley's challenge of a heart attack at the club; Mile's continued romance with Margot, negatively seasoned with the discovery of a seemingly trouble evoking letter; Mile's return home to an encounter with his father, Lord Brandon, who would have nothing to do with his son, Miles getting married to Margot; Meg's birthday preparations at Joshua's end, where Miles learns of Richard Crawley's death and is still expectant of more disturbing news that could jeopardize the smooth sail of Meg's birthday preparations.
The work earns its texture through its effective use of anecdotes synonymous measures taken to preempt the tying of nuptial ties between Miles and Margot.
Excellent work. Bravo.

The intrigue builds and of course you do it so well. I doubt they make it through the night without someone spilling the "beans" on the latest occurrences, but it would be lovely for Miles and Meg to enjoy the stunning evening. You've done more than an outstanding job on every chapter and the ending should be suspenseful and hopefully gratifying as well.
Even though I have not been here, please know that I think of you often and send my love. Hugs my dear friend.... Carol

I can't get enough of this story! It's all falling into a neat little package. I love the scene with Miles and his father. You could feel the rage in the room. I found myself shooshing the old pretentious frump! LOL. It didn't stop him! :) Spectacular! my friend. Best, JohnC.
I posted on your site, but a heartfelt congrats on your win!

Aw, thank you, John, I'm so pleased you enjoyed this part. It was fun writing it!! And thanks for the congrats, I was totally gobsmacked to find out I'd won. I wrote the poem a few weeks ago, and had actually forgotten the contest. It was such a lovely surprise. :)) Thanks my friend. :)) Sandra xx

The story is getting very exciting. Richard is Meg's brother but I guess that wouldn't be a reason for the party to be canceled although he was doing is best to stop it by letting Miles father know, before he was murdered by his wife. He guess he hated his sister.

Yes, Richard hated his mother and his sister. He was just a plain nasty man. Margot doesn't know about Richard yet. The excitement is building!! Thank you so much, Beth, for another lovely review. I really appreciate you comments. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

'Something is going to happen tonight' - and I'm willing to bet it won't be good. Clearly, this story is reaching its climax and could shortly be into its closing pages. It continues to have the powet to intrigue.

I do enjoy leaving my readers guessing!! Lol. Yes, you're right, not many chapters left before the end. Considering I haven't known what was going to happen from chapter to chapter, apart from the final one, I'm quite pleased with how it's gone.
Thanks so much for the sixth star, my friend. I really appreciate it. Warm hugs, see you later. They are just doing the formation lap and it pouring down!! :) Sandra xxx
