I laughed when I read this. I think my mother would send out those response cards. You are very clever. Thank you for sharing this here, and best wishes.

Jessi, thank you for the review, and bless your mother! LOL, Terry.

I love it, Terry. This post is humorous, timely and applicable to every reader's experience. AND I am so pleased you are posting on Fanstory. I enjoy the humor and your particular take on things. Good post.

One suggestion:
received an invitation-- I think this should be: received invitations - as you have received more than 1 and you use the plural 'them' later in the paragraph. Your call

I don't know what to say about this post. I see you are a regular writer and popular so I accept that this type of writing is something that has an audience. I've only just joined so i'm learning how many different styles and approaches there are. Perhaps I'm a bit rigid in what I think a story is.

Robert, I see that you are new. When you review someone, and them you, it is expected you would get some honest feedback about what you liked and what about the "writing" you thought could be improved.
So when you give a four or less you are saying to the writer there is something in the writing that needs to be improved. Be specific, what is it that you think was missing.
Not liking the subject matter is not cause for lower ratings, it is about writing. If you object to the subject matter, don't read it and don't rate it.
If you can not think of a way to improve the writing, rate it 5, if it is exceptional rate it 6.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion if you like it, tell the writer why, and the converse is also true. If you can think of ways to make it better suggest it. Enjoy FanStory.
You can also read other people's reviews by reading "view rankings" under each piece of work. Terry.

It is a sad commentary on how many, including family, ignore
any gifts, Terry. The announcements are in my opinion just
a veiled cover for a gift. I believe most want money. In the
future, I would send a nice Hallmark card, though those have
risen in price, too. Your survey questions were hilarious, but
on point, too.
Respectfully, Jan

This is hysterical, my friend. I can't say enough about how easy it read. I had a smile on my face to the end. You will have to post her response. I can't wait. Excellent job Terry. :)

Well, you found something to write about after all. A graduation gift isn't always necessary in my book. I never had children either and my wife died in 2007 so I don't get too many of those cards anymore. Well written and this is proof that you can still write about something interesting, my friend.
Take care,
Jesse

Jesse, thank you, I think you are right and I should stop responding to some of these requests. Terry.
