This is a nice patriotic poem. Good descriptions of the battle in this poem. Your poem reads and flows well. I liked the consistent rhyming scheme throughout the poem. Nice poem.

I enjoyed this poem, it flowed wonderfully and had powerful meaning. I'd like to write a few words to thank you for your service to country. I'm not sure this is considered free verse. That aside it is a stand-alone piece!

My Dear Sir.....you are probably right...I am not certain if I always understand the required formats of these little ballads...I just squish them together and hit submit....thanks for your thoughts...I was lucky and served with many brave fellows...very few of us are left...It was a hard and bitter time for so many....Godspeed to you and yours..Stu Harrell

It's so reminiscent of the beautiful and mournful war poetry that I so love and cherish. The most wonderful sentiment for me is the line "passed about your picture now we are all in love with you." I thank you for sharing and envy your skill with this genre of verse.
