Thank you for sharing the explanation of these idioms. Some of them I had never heard, but "under the weather is heard quite often so it was nice to know where it came from. Also thank you for sharing the jokes. We all need something to laugh about.

We all need something to cheer us up, Anne, these last two years have knocked the fun out of life. Let's hope it improves next year. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on my idioms and jokes, I'm glad you enjoyed them. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

No, I've been away on holiday, and then just couldn't get fired up again. This is a small nudge in that direction. I'll be in full swing in the New Year. Thanks for missing me!!! Lol. Love and hugs, my friend. Sandra xxx

This work has reached the exceptional level

Another fun filled chapter regarding idioms, Sandra. Isn't it strange how they all make sense when one looks into them - especially with the instant information available on the internet nowadays.
I'm looking forward to the next one, especially if it has a few more
Christmas jokes thrown in for good measure!

Well, they are different, Sandra. I enjoyed reading theses. I've heard the under the weather all my life, but never knew the origin. The others--never heard of--but they're all good! The jokes were hilarious, too. Your images with the idioms are perfect.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you, Jan. There are so many idioms, many I've not heard of from around the world. I'm glad you enjoyed reading mine, my friend. I'll catch up with your posts now I'm back. Love and hugs, Sandra xxx

I truly enjoyed this read. Under the weather was particularly interesting. I always wondered about that. Bob's your uncle is something I say, too. Donkey years from donkey ears. I thought, too, it was because they live long. Loved the jokes. All in all, a great thing to read to perk up the day. Thank you.

I was surprised to read the explanation behind the 'under the weather' idiom, but it did make a lot of sense. Yes, donkeys live up to 25-30 years! I didn't know that either. Thank you, my dearest SATP! Fancy a chat this week? I'll be in all day Wednesday. Love and hugs. Sandra xxxx

I'd love a chat. Wednesday is on my calendar. Is noon my time too late?

I was so glad to learn that you had not baked a pie in donkey's ears. I don't imagine it would wax very pleasant if you did. Besides, it would take an age. I doubt if donkey's ears would ever generate enough heat.

I enjoyed the jokes.

I have never heard any of these. They must be strictly British. LOL Oh, I take that back. I have heard the under the weather one. Strange they haven't made it across the pond till now. LOL Good entry. Merry Christmas Dear Sandra. Nancy:)

The only one of these idioms I've heard of is 'To feel under the weather!' I guess the others are purely British or at least have not reached my section of the US. I did enjoy reading about them. I truly hope you get back into writing because I really miss you.

Hi Sandra, I loved this one. It's a great addition to the book. I knew most of the expressions, but couldn't say from where they originated. Now I have become that little wider. Thank you so much for sharing this. A big hug, Ulla xx

Thanks, Ulla, I'm in a bit of a no-mans-land at the moment. I can't seem to get the writers juices flowing! This has helped to get back into researching, now to do more reviewing and get back to my new novel. I'm glad you learned something from these idioms. I thought the sailors was one that you might know about. That was really interesting. Warm hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx
