This is a heck of a lot of fun Paul, in good olde Irish tradition. The rhyme and meter are great, it reads like a rollicking story should. I only have one suggestion. I think it would read just fine without "And" at the beginning of several stanzas. Loved it...great job.

Absolutely fantastic! This was both extremely well written and easy to visualize an Irish town of drunks all at once. On top of that you nailed the rhymes and that made it even better. I'm out of 6 stars already or you'd get one!

Hahahaha! A wonderful Irish tale told with true Irish style. I loved it and was impressed with the consistent rhythm and strong, creative rhymes. Very nicely done, from start to finish. I have only one tiny suggestion: Some rum soaked crony... rum-soaked is the proper way to write this, I believe. But maybe I'm being too old-fashioned. Anyway, the poem is totally delightful and six-star worthy. MM

Hahahaha! A wonderful Irish tale told with true Irish style. I loved it and was impressed with the consistent rhythm and strong, creative rhymes. Very nicely done, from start to finish. I have only one tiny suggestion: Some rum soaked crony... rum-soaked is the proper way to write this, I believe. But maybe I'm being too old-fashioned. This is a great rhyming poem you've written. I like the cultural content that tells the story of an Irishman spending his single day of three day flu. That hit hard I'm sure. This is very entertaining and tells a fun story.

I enjoyed your poem very much. But I'm just wondering, did Pat McKee revive from the dead simply because he wanted another drink of ale? The Irish Whiskey brought him to, but it's ale he wanted. After a good drink or two, he went back to the table and laid himself out with a contented smile on his face. I hope he didn't come to a second time after the burial!
Or, was it his ghost that got up to drink the rest (other ghosts) under the table? The bar-keep tended to a bunch of ghosts all night long. Then they disappeared. You can't keep a good ghost down, you know.
I used to work at Moosehead Breweries in Saint John, retired from there (after 39 years) on June 30th, 2010. There were quite a few hardened drinkers there, and I imagine their livers could have been used for door stops when they were gone. A good ale always calls for another!

Thanks, Kimbob. I really enjoyed your remarks. I think Patrick did come back to life briefly. My cousin was one of the lads who came from near and far, and he related all the facts to me. He said he remembered everything very clearly.
