I love the imagery and presentation. Great entry for the Cinquain Poetry contest. The syllables count is supposed to be 2/4/6/8/2 but you have 2/3/6/8/2. Good luck in the contest :)

Well done
Comment from Mary Shifman
This is a splendid poem and the picture is an excellent choice to enhance it. The imagery is so evocative and the words have a lyrical feel. I love the line, 'twilight mutes the day...' Very well done. I think you've got a good shot at the prize.

This cinquain, Awaiting Dusk, has the proper formatting and creates a scene of dimming day becoming the night and the sky turning the diamond studded veil.

Hello again, Melissa!
Such beautiful imagery in your cinquain!
I can never determine if sunrise or twilight is my favorite time of the day!
Adelaide Crapsey would be pleased!
One thought to consider: evening = 2 syllables (eve-ning); thus line two only contains three syllables rather than the required four.
Thank you for sharing!
Best Wishes!
(Purchased a huge bag of daffodil bulbs this week!) :)

Oh my, I had not even thought about looking for bulbs. We are still very warm here in VA. Thanks for the thought on the word "evening"... I pronounce it with three syllables and it seems odd, but I will relook at it. You are the one that inspired me to think of one... yours is so very good!!

Big hugs Diane. I am really glad you looked again.. the revision was done in three parts. LOL... Helen noticed that I had a variation of the word "light" in three prominent places... ugh... I think I'll stick with this one and let the chips fall.... Thank you, sweet Diane!!
