Wow! What beautiful imagery you have painted in every reader's mind! Only when we look deep into nature, and then we will understand everything better. You have made us want to get outside and enjoy nature instead of being cooped up within walls. well done! Good luck!

Dolly your kind words are the cherry on my sundae! Thanks so much.
Comment from Gloria ....
Hey J, great to "see" you again, and with a fine pastoral indeed. So much lush imagery here combined with a gentle tone showing all the sumptuous beauty of nature.
I wish you great luck with the Committee with this most joyous poem. :))

Gloria, I found the urge to put business aside and spend a few hours in nature.....so refreshing! 🙏

Beautiful free verse poem! I think this could be the winner!
I enjoyed reading your reverent reflection about being in God's presence while sitting in nature, observing the trees and bees and birds.
My favorite lines were the way you described the tangible nature of memory:
"The sweet, buttery fragrance of honeysuckles
tickle my memories of times gone away"
"memories,
as ripe as the sweet nectar of a freshly plucked plum"

God has gone to great lengths to reveal His great love and His yearning to let us know how much He cares, we take our time growing into the understanding of the depths and unconditionally of that love, His power is so great He is willing to share with our unwillingness, He is so much more than we, and yet love is above and beyond all. Beautifully written Jim, thanks for sharing, well done, blessings Roy

Lovely free verse poem for the contest. It's moving and profound but easy to understand. Great imagery easy to imagine I was there with you. Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you dear soul friend ... 🙏
Comment from Terry Overton
This one really got to me. I'm not sure if it is because I easily identified with the person, aged and still wanting to be out there but needing to be wary of an unsure step. Anything that points to our Creator is a blessing for me to read. Your descriptions were vivid. Terrific job.

Your free verse contest entry is filled with great imagery of many things in nature. I enjoyed reading it. Your lines flow smoothly with great descriptive words/phrases. I like the thoughts of the man when he sees the couple and it reminds him of earlier times.
May I suggest ~
Oh ... repository of such memories,
as a [delete the word 'a' ] ripe as the sweet nectar of a freshly plucked plum from the tree.
Respectfully, Jan

The author's words are engaging, descriptive, filled with awareness and
are creative. I pondered on this lovely nature scene and thought about
how sometimes I don't take the time to see! The poem flows and connects well. Great Poem! Hope you are doing well....Maria

Glorious! A fine entry for the contest--lyrical and rich in imagery. This lush narrative would work equally well rendered in prose--a testament to your skill!
