I can remember when growing up, there were old holes in the ground that must have open cut mines from the pioneer days, they had filled up with water and excellent for swimming they were grounded in rock, so there wasn't any mud around them. Beautifully written Mary, you reminded me of the days before civilisation encroached on suburban life. Beautifully written, brought back my childhood in a rush, blessings, great writing, blessings Roy

Thank you so much for sharing your unique childhood memories! I would be so worried as a parent to have you go hitchhiking but you had your cousins. I'm glad your uncle built a swimming hole that removed the need to hitchhike!

Avery interesting look back at a more easy going time before the country became this. I would recommend adding spacing with the dialogue near the end.
