Missy! You're back. It's been so long since I've seen your lovely smile. Yes, I'm afraid I made quite an impression. Glad it made you smile.

What a great story that builds to the hilarious final statement. That experience would be terribly embarrassing for a teen in 1956. I know you were grateful for mom's consoling comment. Best wishes in the contest.

Yes, Mom was supportive. When you are an athlete, it's good to have a Mom who is an athletic supporter, yuk-yuk.

Hahahahaha. Did you read my True Story flash called A Special Breed? There's a ripppppp in my story also. Thanks for the laugh with this one! Hilarious. I'm sure embarrassing at the time, but it's good to laugh at yourself sometimes! :)

I thought YOU'D understand, Krystal. LOL, thanks for being such a strong supporter for this athlete. I'll take a look at your "Special Breed".

Oh, this is TOOOO funny! Just the sort of thing a teenage boy would NOT want to have happen! And your Mom's reassurance? Hmmm. Was that a compliment??? (LOL)---- A nice 100 word "flash".... Good luck!

(If surviving teens intact counts for anything you ought to do well in this contest!)

You are one fine athletic supporter. I'm glad to have you on my side. Was it a compliment? You are too funny! Where were you on that fall day of '56? I needed everyone's support back then.

I was yet a twinkle in my mother's eye!
Virtually "inconceivable" I could have supported you back then! --Karenina

Now that is a story you will never forget. I cannot imagine how humiliating that would be. Did you back off the floor? Too bad you didn't have a towel with you to drape around your waist. LOL

Thank you, Ralf. No towel. I'm surprised my Mom didn't jump up and go stand in front of me.

Poor Jay, what a man, you were just trying to prove you were one, and that you couldn't possibly be cross gender. A great entry in this contest, well done, good luck, blessings Roy
PS did you make the lift in the end, the weights I meant?

You know, I don't remember if I finished the lift or not. I don't think I could finish it with my legs crossed. Thanks for reading and for the stars.

"and felt the sudden intimacy of cool air." Oh Jay what a writer you are!

Isn't it strange how time draws a discreet veil over the most horrifying of embarrassments? I can imagine that at the time you had to draw upon every ounce of your teenage machismo not to burst into tears.

I love your mother's comments. First rebuking you and then lying through her pearly teeth to help you feel better. That's the way we moms roll. :-))

You wrote this with a stunning economy of words and yet added all the ingredients of a story into your true flash.

Good luck in the contest

Stay safe healthy and blessed

I Was a Teenage WeightlifterIs is an excellent poem of personal self-disclosure. Everyone has painful moments and events that and an embarrassment. It sounds like this wasn't too bad. Sometimes personal embarrassment can be as bad as physical injury. Thanks for sharing another good selection from you! Embrace the love from above.

Thanks, Dr. Nad! You found a golden lining that if I had had it at the time, I would have hidden behind it.

Hahaha! How embarrassing! And your mother didn't really give much hope to the idea that your girlfriend did not see your jockstrap... Since your mom sure knew you weren't wearing any underwear. That is so funny! Well written and concise. Good job. Best of luck to you in the contest. Hugs.

Many thanks, Leann. Mom had to dig deep, I know, to come up with her assurance and keep a straight face.

This is an entertaining True Flash. The details of the event are cleverly crafted, leading the reader into the story and bringing adroitly the necessary increase in pace just at the right moment. All in all it is a good candidate for the contest.

Thanks, Katherine. It was sure hard to keep it within the 100 words. I'm glad it came together for you.
