Is this a true story? If so I am really shocked at your friend's rude and cride behaviour. You did very well in expressing your friendship so gently despite the insult. These things during Covid times and let's hope all this end soon and people will start behaving like normal humans. Love poem. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a true story for sure. Difficult times for so many, truly sad. I liked your repetition, with the twist. You went home sadder than you had been. No happiness in giving here. Thanks for sharing.

Heartrending--has the ring of truth but I was hoping it was fiction--brilliant rendition of the events in graceful flow--your emotions are vividly conveyed.

Mrs. KT you rhymed offering for these troubling times...
To Mary, With Need to Understand
I see that Mary is on fear of the present virus. I like the way you showing her fear as she slams her door. And says, Go away and don't come back until the virus is over.

Your story/poem is very moving, Diane. I also have friends who have gone overboard in their reaction to the virus. Your verse is flows well and has great rhymes that keep it flowing. Well done, my friend.

'To Mary, With Need To Understand', is an exceptionally well-written and heart-wrenching piece. Covid 19 has torn the world as we know it apart. Will we ever recover? Will the wonderful world we once knew ever return. Only God knows the answer.

You did an excellent job, Mrs. KT, with your meaningful, though poignant, poem. Your lines are smooth, the rhymes, are good, the image is beautiful, and the message is true, but sad. I believe Mary was so in fear, as you relate about the pandemic in notes, that she couldn't force herself to take the flowers just for what they meant--an act of love. Now the hurt is on both Mary and the woman who did not phone ahead. When will this fear go?
Thanks for sharing and for the informative notes.
Respectfully, Jan

I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review, Jan.
I refuse to live my life in fear of this situation. It pains me to witness this fear in so many friends... But as for my friend, I shall return with tulips in a few weeks' time ... but only after I have phoned! :)
Thank you again!
Send some of that Texan warmth our way! We Michiganders could use it!

So sad, yet you have understood her crippling fear, which expressed itself unkindly. The sad thing is that, with all appropriate precautions being taken, the gift and the gift of your friendship could have helped alleviate some of her anxiety. A beautifully written poem. I liked your Author's Notes as well, they were very wise.

We are getting a small taste of what it must have been like in 1918 during the Spanish influenza and the middle ages during the Black plagues. We all need to remember that God has a plan. You poem is a real tribute to the loss that we all face.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your experience with your friend. You are so gracious to understand that it was fear that made her this way. We haven't had the vaccine but we still go walking with friends and talk to neighbors while socially distanced.
I liked your quote from Life of Pi. That was a great book. I see how people have been manipulating other people with fear. The QAnon folks threatened that the world would end if Trump were not re-elected. So much fear drove those incensed people to attack the Capitol. So sad!

Thank you, Helen, for your thoughtful review.
The media has been "manipulating other people with fear" long before QAnon ... Chaotic times, indeed. But I refuse to live in fear...
Thank you!
