Oh yes, the only thing that has any sort of meaning, is the believe that things will be better when the sun rises on the morrow, and the ship comes in bearing the joy and peace we desperately need and desire, but I've eaten the bread of hope, and it tastes good. Well done Jesse, good post, blessings Roy

Hated that that stupid movie took the saying 'fifty shades of gray' because it should mean so much more! Love this offering, Jesse (and good to 'see' you, by the way) as your description of the many (fifty? a hundred? more!) shades of 'gray' folks -- their different looks, personalities, beliefs -- is what makes life worth living, ya know? to the 'Extreme' indeed! ;) Gosh, I just love the diversity even when it gets under my skin! ;) Thanx so much for sharing that pen of yours, sir, and have a great rest of the weekend! ;) Yvette

You must be feeling better to be posting again--thank goodness! "Show reverence for life of all kinds"--that should be our mantra. Here's to "harmony"! I like your philosophy of life, my friend. Cheers- Joan

Jessie, how are you feeling? Are you still residing in the facility?
Onwards to your poem, which is one of quite importance, especially during the times in which we are living.
Seemingly, the country is regressing. There is extensive division (racial and economics), in recent times. It feels like "us" against "them". Sadly, during a period in which we need unity and support as your poem and eloquently and creatively indicates.
Your last stanza is poignant and packs a punch. If only people would just listen....

Hello Jesse. What a poignant plea this is! We have racial divisions, political divides, Covid, wealth disparity... Little compassion, though. When I was born I was brought home to my mom and dad's three family house. My family lived on the first floor--my aunt and her six children lived on the second--my grandmother and her youngest (teen) boy lived on the third. We took care of one another and reached out besides! When my aunt worked and saved enough for a modest house, my father rented the three bedroom second floor apartment to a homeless family. Rent? One dollar for one year. He challenged the "dad" to use that time to get a job, save money, feed and clothe his children... I still remember the entire family weeping as they thanked my dad for his generosity. He never asked their last name, their nationality, their political views-- Your poem may seem like something impossible to achieve...ah, but it is not! A year later and that family bought THEIR own house... That's a social program no one needs a federal program for. It's called kindness.--Karenina
