You had me up until the last sentence. Here he saves 3 clerks of his opponent. This does not seem to have anything to do with being the ideological opposite of his opponent. Did he have to think before going in whether those clerks agreed with him ideologically?
Maybe his opponent would have been to frightened to move never mind save him.
From your writing I see that you are imaginative and a good writer, but this ending seems in my opinion needs work.

This is a great entry for the contest because there's a "moral to the story." I love stories with a purpose. This one shows a human helping a human because it they needed help. (I wish more of the news was about people helping others.)

This is an excellent entry for the flash fiction contest. It is well written with no errors and tell a story that happens all to often. However, your hero being at odds with the parties he helped gives it a nice little twist.

This is a very interesting story, I especially like the way you show people brought together by a tragedy. They were never going to be friends but it's easy to be victims together and help each other out because we are all human afterall. Thanks for sharing this and have a great day
