I was honestly touched by your poem. A wonderful, quirky old man. I like the way you say you thirsted (for some of his knowledge). There is probably a man like that from whom there is so much to learn. The wars, the illnesses, the political situation of any time. I knew a few men like this and I loved the stories they would tell--stories set 50 to 70 years ago. An exceptional poem. I'm thrilled to have read it.

I read this several times to try to get the most out of it. I kept thinking about youth and age as I read the descriptions. I liked the phrase "like a lantern, he guided beyond where I was." Good job. Good luck with the poem.
