Hi Sally, you just know don't you. I have sailed most of my life and sometimes I'd had that foreboding as well. And I've learned to listen to it. Never fails. you all had a lucky escape.
This is not a correction, but the true saying goes as this:
Red sky at night shepherd's delight
Red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning.
The saying goes back to time immortal.
All best. Ulla xxx

A very well-written true story about that inner warning system we often ignore and every time it us proven to be a warning to not do what we want but listen. The best lessons are learned the hard way.

Wow! Now that's what I call a story, Sally. I enjoyed it from start to finish. There's no possible way I'd go out in a small boat like that into the Gulf of Mexico. I have a great imagination, and all I'd be able to think about would be sharks. Captain Jeb, eh? I bet his real name was Kramer!
I think the only way I'd go out in southern waters would be on a Disney cruise ship!
Good Luck in the contest! I think this is a winner! Nicely penned.
Hugs,
Kimbob

My husband grew up boating and quite apt at driving a boat, and is an avid water-skier, barefoot skiing in times past. The angry sea doesn't give a rip; and tore into us (and anyone) who dares to come in. Our first date was water skiing and then I took him to the Navy base for bowling. I bowled decent, thankfully. Boys and water and toys... what can I say?
Your review is so very kind, and generous stars so pleasing! Thank you, Kimbob. It's nice to be here to receive them. :)
Sending you my best today as always,
Sal XOs...

Oh my goodness! What a great story. I loved the humor you put into it and how you wove the thread of the "voice" and the great words from Scripture all together to make a riveting story! I think you'll do well in the contest!

You're braver than I am. I likely wouldn't have gotten on that boat, or allowed my children to. I certainly would have insisted on returning to shore as soon as I saw the sky. Glad everything turned out OK. Good luck in the contest.

What a harrowing story! I was in the grip of it right off the bat. I know about that inner voice, my gut feeling, my intuition. God gave women a strong dose of that to protect us. Wonderful story! You've got a winner here.

Whew! Talk about close calls. The praying is what turned things around.
Through a logically-flowing series of specific descriptions, you have recounted your family's encounter with terror.

What an exciting, but hair raising story. It is good to have those stories from the bible to comfort us, and yes, that voice is there for good reason. Great share. Loved the picture and video. Best wishes with this contest entry.

Sally, excellent real life story about getting into a dangerous situation after not listening to your inner voice. You did a great job of making the reader feel a part of the adventure. That is great advice that we all need to listen to. Bill
