I love your celebration of that beautiful bird, but it is also small enough to be classifIed as an insect. In some parts of my state , you will find feeders full of sweetness in people's back yard.
You compare your spirit to that of a hummingbird. and your words are beautiful.
I really like your photo, Mike. Your free verse poem flows nicely.

Your poem explains well the actions of the hummingbird. It is a very mesmerizing scene that one doesn't want to miss. The darting in place and if it is a set-up nectar feeder, it can last a while. Yes the art is exquisite.

You captured the magic of observing and for a moment sharing spiritual space with that tiny, delicate creature...the sweet hummingbird.
I love the imagery, and I recognized truth in your phrase, "dark eyes... searching my spirit for love or malice."
