Lancellot,
Sorry you missed the boat on this situation. By
using radical examples of being sorry for racism or
prison examples, you only touch the surface.
The answer is with the everyday minority people
being treated as second class citizens. Lost opportunities
in education and prosperity that plague families for
generations.
I hope you broaden your awareness.
Have a great day,
Richie b

I think you make some
Very good points here, and I also think that the whole situation is too
Politicized. Saying that I'm
Not in the US so I don't know much about it. Thanks for sharing your opinion here, I find it's always good to get different opinion controversial topics. Just for the record, I think the white silence is violence is more about people not standing up to police violence which Hitler also approved of.

First of all let me say that we're an interracial couple, my wife being black and me white. This reminded us of the rumors that Joe Biden is looking for a black woman as his running mate. That is a form of both racism and sexism if it's true. My wife and I think that's wrong, that the most qualified people should be considered despite their race or sex. This is a very powerful and profound write that's truly thought provoking. I noticed 4 typos that you may want to check out. First " Are they virtue signallig---(signaling). Second Rapist should be plural and murders should be murderers. Third "How do know you're" should be How do you know you're. Despite these typos this is an incredibly powerful and thought provoking write.

I have felt some of the things you say in this well written essay. One point I feel very strongly about is the right to remain silent. Choosing not to get into the fray is my right. Some of us choose to help in other ways. Thank you for bringing many important points into the light. And, I know you would agree that some of us may disagree with some of your points. I mention a little thing just so you can fix it. I believe you have a typo. The correct spelling of the word is "judgment."

These are complex evaluations, but they need to be made. The generalization of white racism is unsupported but very loud; its volume should perhaps suggest its lack of substance. One point the author perhaps overlooks is that in the effort to improve ourselves, improve our civilizations, we need more thoroughly to map ourselves, and acknowledge the presence of strange motivations and strange biases within ourselves. We are making this map, but it is taking a great deal of time and too large a part of humanity is more interested in strong feeling than in understanding. The human thrives on self-deception when it rouses strong or supportive feeling; ask why does the drum of your heart pound when it does.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is extremely well written, presenting the facts. As a teacher, I am ashamed of the lack of education Americans are exhibiting right now. Thank you for writing and being brave enough to post it.

Thank you, thank you! Every paragraph resonated with me and my true heart. The antedote for racism is not to be more racist. Sin dwells in the heart of the individual and must be acknowledged before God and cured. God is pro-life and pro-color, for made us all in unique diversity. He also says, "How blessed and good it is for brothers to dwell in unity."
This is an outstanding article and I bless you for sharing it. I hope everyone on FanStory reads this and takes the enclosed test.
Please accept my six stars today!

This is wonderful, and I'm glad it's six star Sunday. I don't know why white people should feel guilty for something they didn't do. You give some excellent examples of white people begging blacks for forgiveness. I've heard on the news that the people occupying those Seattle streets want only black doctors. I wish your words in your paragraph beginning "I am not a slave and I never was" could be drummed into every black child. Unfortunately, the black leadership of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, AOC and others has drummed the victim mentality into their heads. We can't know what's in a person's heart, but that's what the thought people are trying to do. Your five points are excellent. What great insights in this. I hope the thought police won't come for you. judi

Perhaps you could even go back to the Bible. Moses killed an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew. Then when he tried to intervene when a Hebrew overseer beat a fellow Hebrew, he got into trouble.
Well said. I am as white as can be. What errors I make - and I'm sure I do - come from my lack of experience. I don't know what it's like to walk in black skin, or to come from generations of people enslaved or treated as second-class citizens. In recent years I've learned some of my ancestors were slave-owners.
As Dr. King said, let us be seen for the content of our character and not the color of our skin.
