This chapter in your story started off with a giggle, and ended with a knotted tummy. I had to laugh at Grandma telling Grandpa off after she heard what he'd said about flirting, so funny! There is lots going on in this part, Cathy, I really lovely the proposal on the carousel, how romantic was that! I was clapping, too! But all good things come to an end, and Cathy goes home on the bus in one direction, and Bill on the train in the other to go back to the war. Well done, this was excellent! :)) Sandra xxx

My favorite part was, "Rat-a-tat-tat--Kaboom--Kaboom! Walking along, we stumbled, fell, bled; yet, some lived to fight another day. Thank God I was among the living. Raising my eyes to the sky, I whispered, 'Please, Jesus! Bring me home to Cathy, our baby and family.'", because of the use of onomatopoeia it helped add to the action, and because you left the reader in suspense as to what will happen with their relationship!

Vietnam such a horrible war. My cousin fought, he drove a tank, he has never been the same. But I am grateful for those willing to do what I cannot, go to war and defend our country.
So now Bill and Cathy are engaged. I have a feeling he will make it home for the wedding. Well done, looking forward to the next chapter. Rox

One of the things I especially like about this section--not having familiarized myself with the other chapters, as of yet--is that the jump cuts feel very quick and chaotic, which is very much a real thing that happens to the mind when large contrasting events overlap. In light of the impending horrors of Vietnam, the nested, almost dream-like quality of the peacetime events works very well.
