What a superb humorous touch to these stanzas - longing for the Spring and its warmer, brighter days hopefully - nice rhythmic bounce - thanks for sharing

When at a loss for a contest poem topic, go to the most apparent, or WET, as the case may be - LOL!! ;) Weather is as weather does... I just wish it would 'do' a bit more sun... Thanx so much for your review, Zanya -- always appreciated! Yvette

Hey Yvette don't be complaining! We've just been warned another blast of winter arrives tomorrow, and some 8 to 10 inches is expected, and dropping temperatures to boot! I'll take rain despite all the truths you list competently in your posting! I took a short walk outside before coming back to read your poem, and it was a glorious much wanted - here anyway - change I would love to see! A sign of Spring! Tomorrow,
I think I'm going to hibernate until May! Oh for a warm, rainy day to wash the white stuff away! I don't mind wearing my rubber boots!
Ah well, here's hoping the forecast proves to be a flight of fancy! Doubt it, but I can wish! Fondest regards. Denis.

I will NOT be one of the folks complaining about the heat... ever. :) :) Weather is as weather does... I just wish it would 'do' a bit more sun... Thanx so much for your review, Patty -- always appreciated! Yvette

I loved this entry in this rhyming poetry contest Yvette, there are many here who've suffered drought for many years would gladly exchange some of your rain for their unending sunshine mine. But I do know what you mean, days on end of rain, can be pretty depressing, beautifully written my friend. A superb, quirky entry in this contest, good luck, blessings Roy

Hello, Y. M. Roger,
Winter...and Spring in the South is a beautiful poem and funny too. I yearn for spring and summer too. It's sunny in southern California.

My sister lives in Georgia and she has enjoyed the change in weather. She comes from upstate northeastern NY, where this time of year is generally gray and gloomy and then becomes sunny and beautiful in April and May. A long stretch of gloom! Your poem is very well written and aptly describes the yearning for nice weather. The part about the windshield wipers is extremely creative! The image is great also. Best of luck in the contest!

I know you, Yvette, and I know how heartfelt this is. I have meaning to ask you if your morning commute has been affected by the major road (231? 431?) that is closed due to water damage. If so, you are getting it doubly bad on this rainy season.
Your poem made me smile. You nailed Alabama weather for sure. We go quickly from deluge to drought.
There's a little sun today. You enjoy.

Naaah.... I'm on 431 between Hsv and Guntersville (through New Hope).... that's on the other route through Arab (south out of Huntsville over the Tennessee) ... ;) There was a little sun today - Hooray!! I was in the classroom all day, but at least out the window was bright and not rainy! ;) Take care, MQ! ;) Yvette

Agreed - around here, long about end of July, folks begin to shout "drought" - and we've only begun to warm up - to see the sun long enough for a tan. I say "don't worry, the rains will come. they always do"
guess that's a good thing.
Cute poem

As a resident of the UK this poem just hits me where I live! A real anthem to those of us who are bored with the soggy grey winter and can't wait for spring! I love the whimsical and humorous nature of your poem Yvette, it's very fun and I enjoyed reading it!

Humorous and clever--good rhythm and choice of rhyming words; fresh turn of phrase. I'm with you re rain--I'd rather have snow (though not ice!)
