This is a terrific poem .you have brought out a schizo phrenic mind very clearly. I know what you are feeling ,the helplessness. i have felt it .any amount of reassurance won't work and frankly sometimes I even feel they dont want to be better .(i have felt this about my friend).
it was difficult for me to pick up a fav line .but the last stanza hit me too hard
what is sanity
she has a name for her demon
I dont
do you?
Frankly , I don't.

I cannot comment from direct experience on this disease. For that i must thank God. But I had a brother-in-law many years ago, deceased now, who was a sufferer so I recognise the effects. I believe this free verse of yours is an excellent account of what it means to be so afflicted.

Hi, So glad to have some SIXES left for this real insight into an unknown disease for a lot of us. Thanks for a great poem and equally great artwork selection. Just one suggestion for spell change. to the alt[e](a)r of atonement....
I came to you from a very old review you did in my collection of Rants Raves and Tributes a long time go. Hopefully, I can keep up on your stuff even though not sure how much longer I will be staying on FS.

Your story/poem is deep and meaningful. Without medication, the voices tell the Angel lies. There is no respite, no where to run or hide, even under the covers. Angel becomes outcast from society, in her world there are others like her, they make her worse. I have seen it, nursed it and been afraid of the behaviors. Their strength is incredible, more than ours. A jab stops them like a taser stops a criminal. They have a massive burden to carry. Would you believe, religion has it's roots in this dilemma? Love, Kace.

Poignant reminder that more people than we know are struggling with mental illness. I always forget how a friend who has this is fighting odd commands from voices most of the time. He just seemed quieter than usual when I was around him in the past. We all have our demons, some larger than others. Sometimes it's just ordinary "antsiness" or "uneasiness," and sometimes it is like the person described here. Very powerful indeed, and also to end with a direct question.

We still have a long way to go in understanding the brain and how the imbalances can affect us and at least there are medications these days to help the sufferers, but they can not be healed and cope with the enormity of this disease. Your descriptions describe the hell they go through, a well written piece, love Dolly x

Beautifully created from both sides; her struggles and your struggles in interacting with her. There were two members on here that both openly suffered from Schizophrenia that I followed, both have disappeared and I miss their writing terribly. I always wonder if they're ok. I mention this because of how accurately you portray the way they speak of their demons. So spot on! Your ability to walk in another's shoes always amazes me. This is a stunning example.

One nit I found? "She('s) broken and she's beautiful
Happy to see you posted my friend. :)

Oh, this offering just ROCKS! There is so much emotion and so much of the mixed darkened light that is accompanied by Schizophrenia and her related illnesses...so much animal and angel...and your words and stilted formatting do a FANTASTIC job of such illustration!! ;) And those closing lines? Just .... well, perfect. Thank you for sharing such a poetic masterpiece!! ;) ;)

I love the theme of this piece and the story it tells. You use really beautiful language throughout the poem. Some of my favourite phrases are "Innocence set in stone, like the carved cherubs above a gravestone", "the weight of her shadows won't let her breathe" and "a blossoming orchard of cherry blossoms covering the crypt of the forsaken". I like how you portray her thoughts and feelings and also the thoughts and feelings of those around her who don't know how to deal with what she's going through. I also really like the end of the poem because it emphasizes that we all go through tough things and just because she is diagnosed with Schizophrenia that doesn't make her any less than anybody else. Great job!

It's hard for me to wrap my head around this one, Jimi. The empathy is intense, as is the kaleidoscopic imagery. You take us to the edge of reason with your words. Poetry at its best. So glad I stopped by to read, reread, and review.
