I have not seen one like this for quite awhile and I love the prose and verse together. After reading the piece in tribute, you did an excellent tanka using nature to help conclude the piece

This poem touched my heart. My mom loved plants and her favorite was African violets( her name was violet). I too love the same things she loved, it's as if you are telling my story. Best of luck in the contest.

Precious memories like that are something that we can revisit again and again. Some of those memories are like moments frozen in time. I like this beautiful ode you've penned about your mother. Well done!

This is a lovely post, Janet. The photo of you and your mom is beautiful. So nice to see the image of you, which is stunning. I enjoyed with your tanka prose and identify with the emotions you've expressed. Marilyn

From the first moment you bring you and your mother together through shared treasures, which turn out to be not just treasures, but precious memories. I enjoyed how you turn the beautiful objects into moments that describe who your mother was as a person, and your relationship with her. The old plastic jug story is priceless. I love it! And that it would crack open more memories for you. Wonderful.

This is a very beautiful and meaningful piece of ode to your Mom. What a nice picture of you both, and I could tell that was you from the listing.--But I wasn't sure who the older woman was until I read more. Very detailed and I really like your descriptive words that all sound so 'motherly,' a great Mother's Day tribute and well written. Enjoyable to read. I'm glad you finally started writing--it's never too early and it's never too late I believe for anything. Best,

Some nice images here.
The fancy font is difficult to read; consider using a simpler font and letting the words themselves create the mood.
"Maroon colored"--maroon ya a color, so you probably don't need the word "colored."
The last part is nicely poetic.

A poignantly dramatic and sensitively recalled work about your mum, that is deeply touching and propitiously and nostalgically delivered with a fine prose work, and a beautifully worded tanka to accompany it, well done and happy mum's day to you Janet, blessings, Roy

Well earned Janet,

The poem echoes the prose well. It seems you inherited a green thumb and maybe clumsiness from your mom, if you remember many other messes you cleaned up with her. Good photo.
Good luck in the contest. Keep writing
