Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I laughed and laughed, and I read it to my boyfriend. He just happens to be a hoarder, yes hot wheels, beer cans, things that "were his dear mothers". The only difference is its a cake mold and not a jello mold. Thanks for the laughs.

I've seen the series Hoarders on television, Earl.
It's unbelievable and incomprehensible to me the way some of those people live.
However, it's said to be a mental disorder, this binge buying, trash picking, all encompassing affliction.
So, who am I to judge?
I still collect comic books and graphic novels (horror themed only), and I'm almost 60 years-old!
But I'm also OCD when it comes to things in my place not being put back where they belong.
I own over 5,000 dvds and blu-ray discs, 3,000 books and nearly a thousand comics and graphic novels.
They are all categorized according to author, or in alphabetical order. With the exception of the movie discs. They're classified according to genre.
So, while I may be laughing, I'm not laughing AT you, I'm laughing WITH you.
Good poem and good luck to you in the contest.
~Dean

Thank you Dean. I've been collecting comics since 1967 and have all kinds. My favorite is Sgt. Fury and his howling commandos, the Shadow, and Jonah Hex. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

I liked Sgt. Fury but was never much of a Marvel Comics fan.
For war comics, I've collected Sgt. Rock and Weird War, both DC titles.
    You're more than welcome, Earl.

This is a scream. Do we need to send for help? Those socks sound like an issue. This is so fun and so you. I remember the story you did long ago about all your
t-shirts with slogans on them. You are quite the collector.
All my best,
Sal ;+)

This was such a fun poem to read. I've never horded much, but still enjoy a fair share of sentimental objects. I hope your house isn't as messy as the one featured in them poem haha,

Hi Earl, I am laughing because this sounds all too familiar. We collect things over the years, and then we don't think we can live without them. In my move last year, I became ruthless. I got rid of everything I hadn't missed for the last few years. I liked your poem. Good luck.I'm looking forward to reading on as I see this will be an ongoing saga. All best. Ulla:))

I watched a few of those Hoarder TV shows and had to pick my jaw up off the floor. I'm pretty OCD the OTHER way (you know, magazine placed at right angle to the corner of the very neat coffee table...) All I can say is it's lucky (for many reasons) I have no state secrets--because all anyone would have to do is toss me in a hoarder's house for, oh, three minutes and I'd spill the beans! (Then sweep them into a neat pile, of course!)--
Funny poem...Karenina

I resemble those remarks, I can't make it to my bedroom closet.
I find this very well rhymed and humorous,"perfect" for the writing prompt.
A worthy contest entry, best wishes.

Aren't we all hoarders - I know I am - thing is, I usually have a place where things can go. But all that takes time. Do you watch the program "Hoarders" - I find it interesting mostly cuz my lot isn't quite as bad as some of those. Still, I need to go through boxes, move things on that I'll never use again...it's endless.
We need a good garage sale. At those I drag out amazing stuff I thought I was saving.
Good job.

Hoarding is an addiction, I think. This sounds like a real problem. I think maybe you can keep things but repurpose them. Make the wool socks into a colorful wool sweater. Maybe find a way to make the concert t-shirt into a poster. This poem uses humor well to show the extent of the problem.

Good luck. Keep writing

The shirts were turned into a quilt. I still can't stand to get rid of my grandma's horrid brass jello molds. Thank you for taking the time to read and review my work.

You're welcome. Did you know that they have now found that in some situations brass is not safe to cook in.
