Just beautiful.
I love the ending especially.
Describes exactly how memories
of others resonate...'bereft of sound.'
Lovely.
This is a beautiful free verse,
Blessings...

Beautiful imagery! I lived in Arizona for a few years in my youth. You've described sunset in a canyon perfectly, and in so doing taken me back in time 25 years. Thank you!

A soothing piece, the sound of water and music is a magical combination and I have a Debussy album where I find this kind of magic, and also in the words of your well written free verse! But I ask myself where is the rhyme after your schooling with Pantygynt? Just kidding, He he he, love Dolly x

We've been looking at near rhyme and cross rhyme in recent sessions with Jim. Counting assonance and consonance as types of near rhyme, this poem has a few examples.
    e.g.
    waterfall/swirl/stirred/deux
    leaves/breeze
    calms/embalmed
    gold/rose/glow/sallow
    echoes/those/shadows
    sound/drowned
My aim with these was to create a soothing combination of sounds, sometimes called euphony.
    What do you think?
Alan Larkin and WB Yeats use the idea quite a bit in some of their poems.

You have had success Tony and I think I commented on a previous post of yours that although it was a free write, there was a tune and melody to your words, it is all working! I loved the idea and Jim is a great teacher, love Dolly x

A very well-written free verse poem about the music of nature that is so peaceful that we can fall asleep with peace in our minds and hearts to bring fragments of the past into our dreams.

Hi TF,

This is breathtakingly gorgeous, eloquent verse, my friend. You have me almost speechless--a rarity. Ha ha ha! The image you've selected complements your work effectively and imparts that calming sense of impending evening relaxation conveyed in your second stanza (my favorite). Thank you so much for sharing your work with us. Jan

You and your big words! I had to think a bit about the ones you used, never heard of some. The theme was great and I could hear tinkling water. A very intelligent poem my friend, I like it very much. XXK.
