Yes I remember... and with that first question my own memories become engaged with those of the couple in the poem. You capture such a languorous, dreamy feel to the passage of time with the water metaphor. Time moves on and young love changes but the true love is still there.

Thanks for the lovely review.
Same river as the rather nastier one in "The Other Side."

Hi Steve,
This is a lovely love poem :) I can hear the river running slowly nearby and the rustle of the leaves in the trees. I worry about the two of you being skin to skin with the farmer in his fields nearby pulling his binoculars out to see what you two are doing. Yikes! Ah to be so in love and not worried about who sees you.
Seriously, though. I can feel the romance in the air. This is a terrific entry and I wish you well in the contest.

Thanks, Joy. Just so you know, no farmer working in his field is equipped with a pair of binoculars!
Lovely review - thanks again.

Well you lucked out this time. In my stories from now on all farmers will have binoculars with them wink wink!

I wish I had six stars to give you. This is beautiful and I wish you the best in the contest. So well written and expressed. Nice flow and ends perfectly. I enjoyed reading this. Great presentation, too. Congratulations on your first book. I think the title of it is great. Blessings, Cathy

Thanks, Cathy.
I really have to update that profile - the book's been out for just on a year now! I'm working on the next one, "Forty-Four Fabulous Funnies."

A sad though lovely poem. I spend a lot of time on rivers and understand their changing ways very much, just like love, and you captured their affects wonderfully. The rhythm and flow is splendid and gives an air of sweet remembrance. Overall, great job and thank you for sharing!

This is an excellent piece in every respect: The message conveyed is
moving and appealing, and the rhyming and metrical patterns are
correct and sustained. The poem flows smoothly from young, strong love
to mature but till strong love.

This is like a story of two people that did something nice with each other by the tree. It is filled with wonderful memories that they have had. It is part of the friends story enjoying life under the tree. No mistakes. Good luck in the contest!

This is such a BEAUTIFUL love poem :)
The artwork was a perfect choice, and I could picture the couple on the river's bank.
I really enjoyed how you personified the river and trees.
Your font size and style always make for an easy read.
This is a great contest entry!!!

Beautiful love poem, Steve! I'm guessing you'll win with this one. The meter is lovely and the descriptions of the trees and the river are really well done. My favorite lines were:
"that nodded their approval and
riddled the sun through shimmered leaves."

I like your invitation to the lover of yesteryear and today to remember because you take along the reader with you, too, into their own memory. I like the changing nature of the river almost as an image of time. Good connection between past and present.
