This is an excellent written Halloween poem about the walking dead from all sorts of life once lived. Flowed beautifully and great presentation. Good Luck in the Contest.

Bleaker indeed. Very well written Steve - the repetition creates both pace and atmosphere. There are several lurid images and bad characters painted with some very light and deft touches: the drunken father, the war dead.

Thanks, Phill. I started out to write something much more free verse-y but these damn rhymes and rhythms kept intruding. Who am I to argue with the gods of poetry?
