Welcome back. You must be very busy, but if time permits, our new semester for Creative Writing in Malibu begins on Tuesday, August 28, 9:30-11:45 a.m. at the Senior Center (I leave about 10:20 for my next class in Santa Monica).

Your title and striking artwork selection captured my attention. I admired the vivid descriptions of the scene in your free verse and your introspection with your wondering if you have "lost" your way and the enigmatic references to the older woman. Well done- Joan

Oh wow, I actually have that day off! Remind me what the address is of the Senior Center. Another thing, are you going to the meeting at the Methodist Church in Malibu this coming Sunday? It's another open mike, apparently the big one of the summer. 3 PM. I was thinking of reading this at the meeting. I went to Europe, come home and end up writing about Montana - go figure.

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, I can't make the Methodist Church event, since I will be reading a poem at the Brentwood Library. I hope you can make it to class on the 28th or other Tuesdays--the address is 23825 Stuart Ranch Rd., and there is usually lots of free parking. Looking forward to seeing you again- Joan

This is a touching and beautifully composed free verse, Carol. The accompanying image is perfect for your words. Well described throughout. Makes the reader feel she is right there at the scene. Each word counts to the final ending. Very nice indeed. Marilyn

Excellent how does the river ( water not freeze) when everything around and above is frozen, and how do we survive when our times of freeze (darkness) comes, the season changes for all and the thaw begins, I read so much in this wonderful poem****kahpot
