I like the play of words which lend beauty to the poem. The rescue of the pup and the subsequent exile from the house makes interesting reading

This is a good entry for the contest.
"Stones tinkling against each other telling the stories of their journey
Wind in the trees whispering a sweet hymn of glory
Softness of the pine needle cushioning the path "
I loved the metaphors above. I posted one about whispering trees. It was actually the leaves which were whispering
"The canopy sky attempting to washing their loss away "
In the Above maybe lose the ing of washing. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Thank you for the heads-up on the extra ing. I had played around with it too much and had remnants of the first thought. I'm glad you enjoyed my metaphors. They are actually my favorite part too.
