Sounds like your heart was at peace and you claimed your rightful place upon the sea. I am not a sailor but I found so much peace as I watch and listen to the ocean waves. Aging can't take the memory away.

Reflections about age and ageing, and life's experiences and love, and the end of the life journey. I like the parallel with a sailing experience and imagery from the sea. Well written.

Sounds like you are a man of the sea. Sailboat? Where did you travel? Made me think random thoughts of the "glory days". Meaning when I was young, skinnier, blonde and I took life lightly. I love riding the Harley with my hubby. The wind in my face, thoughts wandering, the joy of feeling free and without worry. Lovely poem. Thanks for sharing. Esther

Your rhyme and rhythm were excellent in this poem, as they normally are, but I think I noticed it more this time, for some reason. Thank you for reposting it. I enjoyed reading.

A beautifully crafted poem reflecting life's memories sailing through different stages in rich wordings and phrasings; excellent rhyming with superb flow.

You have it seem to have a natural affinity with rhyme and metre that so many on this site struggle to achieve and frequently fail. As a teacher in this subject I struggle sometimes to see why they cannot "feel" the rhythm of what they write. The rhyme they generally find quite easy, but an established metre often falls from grace in the second or third stanza and they don't seem to be aware of that.

I have read your first two lines over and over--such a poignant image. I gave you six stars, because those beautiful words made my heart ache. I appreciate the cleverness and beauty in poetry, but your words made me feel something. Oh I wish that I could do that with my words. Thanks for repeating those lines at the end. So appropriate.

I found this to be a very delightful and uplifting work of great rhythm and perfect rhyme, so there is nothing I can offer to make this work any better in any way. My thanks to this author for a really enjoyable work. HIS GRAYNESS; Vance
