The metaphors and imagery used made the poem come alive in a sense. This poem deserves six stars but I'm out for the week. Thank you so much for sharing

Tony,
I enjoyed your poem although I hate any kind of mushroom to eat or see in the yard. You did a great job with the rhymes, alliteration, smooth flow & message. I know this is more than just about mushrooms. Great picture, too. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Beautiful. My family calls me fey, so, yes, I can see the fairies chanting and weaving their magic, perhaps taking a rest on a mushroom stool. Odd, that they grew in a circle! Loved this whimsy!! Blessings....

Beautifully written fantasy poem, Did you search for the picture and write the poem about it or the other way around? I love the story you tell. My favorite stanza is the first one, describing the circle of mushrooms. Your choice of words is excellent, and the flow and meter are great. I love and notice your rhymes, which fit the accent from Austrailia. Your enticing descriptions are well written, as always. I'm not one who loves fantasy stories, but you did a great job writing in that genre.
Take care, Jesse

Many thanks for your kind words, Jesse. Most affirming and appreciated. I wrote the poem first and then searched for a picture to go with it. I'd have liked one with the mushroom circle at the edge of a wood and at dawn, but that was the best I could find! Best wishes, Tony

Ah, yes, my friend explained to me that mushrooms often are found in circles. I liked the picture you chose even if it wasn't all you were looking for. I am glad you liked my review. I am getting bolder as I progress in reviewing. Thanks for the positive feedback.

I liked reading your poem about magical creatures and their mystical powers. I don't think I've ever heard about magical mushroom circles though. Are mushroom circles really a thing?

Many thanks for your kind words. Most affirming and appreciated. Yes, mushrooms and other fungi do sometimes grow in rings. I'm not sure why. Ancient European folklore associates them with fairies and suggests that those who step inside the ring may be spirited away to fairyland, never to return. Best wishes, Tony

Great rhyming and flow and I like the intricate language too. It deserves all the seals it gets. I also tend to like poems with a magical, fantasy or fairy-tale feeling to them, so the image of the third verse brought a smile on my face.

Good morning Fawcus. I love it that you can write so well about any subject. This picture is something I have never seen, a mushroom circle. Is this a real picture. The poem is beautiful.

Many thanks for your kind words, Tier. Most affirming and appreciated. Yes, this is a real, unedited picture. Mushrooms and other fungi do sometimes grow in rings of this kind, but not often quite so definite as pictured here. European folklore suggests that they are fairy rings and imbues them with magical properties. Best wishes, Tony

"Pubescent ripeness shyly held from view
Pink around the gills and satin skin stretched tight"
This are my favorite lines because you are so skillfully wrote this double entendre.
I am sent on an 'emotional cloud riide' ( not from magic mushrooms either!) when I read your beautiful poetry. I don't review some subject matter, but thank you for sharing your popular literary talents.
Poetic hugs, Trisha

A lovely photo of these wild mushrooms. They grow under oak trees, we get them here too. They are gorgeous enough to write this beautiful rhyming poem about.

Many thanks for your kind words and six stars, Robina. Most affirming and appreciated. I noticed that, too, in England - they seem to like oak trees. There was a magnificent copse of beech trees near where i lived years ago that also often had mushrooms under them. Best wishes, Tony
