"One piece jumpsuits flared at the knees"...the precursor to The Hammer pants? You should have added powder blue leisure suits...Disco was a weird anomaly that came from a distant planet..and burned out quickly....It does hold a strange fascination. You covered it well..

I was a sixties girl and missed the disco era but....I was able to experience with my sister. Loved the last stanza:
Mini dresses with long flared sleeves
One piece jumpsuits flared at the knees
Using an iron we pressed our hair straight
Just may be the night to find the right mate
Great story in a poem. Well done.
Blessings

When I went to college, in the 1970s, disco was in full swing and anyone who was into it dressed the part. I know I did. Disco music in the '70s was just a call to go wild and party and dance with no thought or conscience or regard for tomorrow. Thanks for writing a poem that brings back many memories.

Oh I love this piece as it incorporates all that I knew as a teen. I adored Donna Summer, and the seventies, and the clothes that you describe so well. You did a fabulous job on this piece. I will definitely vote for you. Thank you for giving me a piece of an error gone by.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this step back in time. The tempo of your poem moved along quickly, as if mimicking the disco beat.
I don't remember women ironing their hair in the 70's, but I do remember doing it as a kid in the 60's.
Anyway, you did a great job with your descriptions, allowing the reader to feel she's actually there.

Hi Louise, I am so happy you enjoyed my poem, it does hold great memories, I personally did not Iron my hair, but my sister did, now she wraps it. Mary

This all pretty much tool place after I was married and had children to care for, so I missed it. Even as a high school student I never had time for the fads or trends of the time as I had so much responsibility caring for my home while my mother worked. Patricia

Hi Patricia,
I was married with responsibilities too. But I always loved dance, so when we got babysitters we enjoyed our night out, it was something to look forward to. My sister often came with us too, after ironing her hair. Pity you missed out on the memory of the music and dance. Mary

Ah, the days of disco. I spent more hours than I want to think about dancing to the beat. Your poem evoked a great deal of emotions from the past. The mention of Donna Summers and her ruling of the era made the piece ever more vivid. I can hear 'I will survive' in my head. Thank you for sharing,

Hi
I really appreciate your review, and I am happy it brings back some great emotions. It was Gloria Gaynor who sang "I will survive" but it was one of the songs of that era. Mary

Since the dawn of civilization, man has been indulging and committing in such hot act in such performing art places, everywhere, it is a common practice for man is opportunist and born with such instincts, some controls and many fail to; I have enjoyed the story in a poem shared freely flown thoughts in nice imagery.
