Thank you for reading and commenting. Old Beauty was a great dog and the first dog I can remember.

Lovely photo of Old Beauty. You must have been young then. Your story has a start, middle and a very sad ending. A great entry for this prompt, best wishes for it. No changes needed.

Thanks. It was a very long time ago, Beauty died when I was around eight years old. We all loved her and missed her.

That is so lovely. All in fifty words, you captured the old dogs jealousy at being left out in the cold, and then the little girl comes and gives her a hug and says those magical words that would make any old heart swell with joy. Superb and I can see a win here. Good luck! :) Sandra xxx

Thank you, Sandra. This was actually in a contest a while back and I decided to promote it again. The picture of the dog didn't come through in the original writing.

A nice 50 word dog story with a lovely and happy ending.
It's a nice picture to go with your story.
It makes sense that our dogs get jealous when they have to share the attention they are used to getting. But, they get over it.
Well done.

Thank you, my friend. Beauty was much loved and missed by all when she died.

I really enjoyed this sweet fun story. It was only natural that Old Beauty would be cheesed off - dogs are serious about territory and who is leader of the pack.
But finally, like in real life, there's a true friend who never forgets us, no matter what, no matter when.
Good luck with the contest

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I wrote this some time ago and am promoting it to recognized status.

I really loved this little tale. The old dog would get jealous I bet. I can see the scene as it plays out and the old dog thinking nobody cares. Just a heads up. I only counted 49 words. I don't know if spaces count, or exclamation marks but just check to be on the safe side. Good luck with the contest

Thanks. The contest for this story was some time back. I'm just promoting it to get recognized status. I did take out one word but it doesn't matter now. It was a good catch on your part though.

Awweee, but it's a baby. Everybody has to play with the baby. Even Old Beauty. Sulking for attention it's a typical story. Well thought out and nicely written. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Yeah, it was a baby but Beauty had always been the center of attention.

Excellent job telling a heart warming story in so few words. Great artwork choice to complement your work. I love your one word ending ... powerful! Brings back memories of my first, and very loved, dog. Best wishes in the contest! Sue P. :)

Thank you for the six stars and the great review. I like to do one-word endings, they seem to add impact.

Hi there,
I liked this piece. It feels like a real thing which is not easy to achieve given the constraints of the limited word count.
nicely done

Oh this is so sweet and heartwarming! A wonderful picture of words you have create in just fifty words, what a fantastic idea for a story, for our old pets are just as important as new arrivals, and 'old beauty' is a lovely idea, what is new and novel is not always the best. Kind regards, Meia :)

Thank you for reading and commenting. Old Beauty is the first dog I can remember. She was upset when my dad brought a beagle pup home.
