This is a delightful poetic commentary on hats. It sounds as though you are off to Ascot. A strong contender in this contest.

Thank you so very much for the review! Yes, it would be nice to head to Ascot....just have to wait a bit on that one.

A delightful take on the hat craze and I highly recommend you promote it again around Derby time...it will be a big hit, I predict!
I enjoyed your inclusion of the various styles and descriptive lines for each. Really clever and well done.

Thank you , Mary, for the good review and rating. I appreciate that. Your suggestion about Derby time is certainly a good one! I will have to do that.

Very cute poem about wearing a hat! Creative approach to the different styles of hats also. I like how the it ends with the baseball hat being a "lesser" choice and not one that a true lady might wear!

Thank you! Yes, I am afraid the baseball hat is the order of the day! Just hope the others stay around for awhile.

This is a very cute poem you have penned. You used very good descriptive wording and very good imagery. I loved it all but this was my favorite:
So next you choose a red beret.
To France we go, Oh lay! Oh lay!
You wait to hear the crowd's reaction-
Alas, you get no
satisfaction!
The baseball cap? You would not dare!
But there you go- the hat sits there
upon your head for all to wonder
how you could make so
great a blunder!
Perhaps the lesson learned from this
is hats aren't made for every Miss
We're sure it wasn't your intention
to venture forth with
such pretension.
Very good job. Teri

How I wish I had six stars, I just love this!!!! I love hats....I never wear them, ha ha. Bought a gardening hat this year with a blue ribbon....I am determined to wear it before fall, if only for 5 minutes, just to know I did! Good luck in this contest...blessings....

Cynthia, I really like this. I think it's a great poem for the Dress
for Success writing prompt. It's just cute. I wish I were a hat
person. I need to be bold and try some and see which type fits me.
Good luck in the contest.

I like the fact that the choice of which hat to wear describes an aspect of the wearer's personality. You have given a good look at the woman in the poem through the many hats she wears.

This poem meets the requirements of the Dress for Success contest.
The poem focus the impression people view when you wear a hat.
The poem story line development: the hats are all scattered asunder, picking a pillbox we smile inside with glee, it mocks your face.Next a wide brim we shake our head amused, it won't win you a prize. The fedora you strike a pose the rim above your nose, the crowd goes wild"Women's Liber". Then a red beret the crowd's reaction no satisfaction. The baseball cap how could you make so great a blunder. The hook hats aren't made for every Miss.
The rhythm carries the reader ever forward.
The natural pauses give us time to reflect on what is being said.
The rhyming carries us to the next line or natural pause.
The emotion felt joy as a hat can tell who you are your personality or mood.
Keep on writing
