This is quite a story, Patricia. I am so glad you could get back in touch with your son, That is a blessing for both of you and I am sure God intended for you to get a chance to know each other.

This is wonderfully written, Patricia. It couldn't have had a better ending. I'm very happy for all of you. There is a typo in last sentence of your author's note that you may want to change:
"After meetig (meeting) my son and..."

I know you realize how blessed you were, to be so shunned back in the day, when you said you weren't even sure how to pray. I think God, Who knows all mens' hearts knew you had a broken one and then when the time was right, He made all good things possible. He asks in Genesis: "Is anything too hard for me." Of course not.
So I see, through the years and the pining of your heart through the years, God gave you a great blessing. Most people don't get to experience that. AND, I see how your prayer life has developed from one who did not quite know how to approach Your Savior to a woman who knows exactly how--and often! God has taken very special care of your son. His Own Son is said to have carried the baby lambs, too weak to go it alone, and to take special gentleness with the old sheep.
I am glad for you, Pat, that your story ended well and glad you share it with us.

1958,. Yes, they were hard days for young unwed mothers. Pressure from
families and social opinion forced so many young mothers to forgo their babies.
As a man I have only an empathy for the distress this must cause. The way
you searched Dwayne out after all those years shows just how connected the
bond of mother and child was. The fact that you managed to find a happy life
with a loving husband and fine children, and then find the child of your youth,
shows how much God has blessed your life. I know this is very personal piece
but I'm sure you've gained something personal for sharing it. It is well written
and easy to follow. Your emotion connected with me throughout.

M Fowler your review touches me deeply, especially since it is from the view point of a man. Writing this story in this way has been quite healing. I have been blessed by God beyond any measure. Patricia

This is a moving memoir piece. There is nothing more freeing than being able to write about the most painful and poignant moments in one's life. The act of writing reveals more than the person knew was beneath the surface. This act of sharing your story is a gift to the reader because your courage to reveal opens windows of revelation to them. This is a life affirming story. Thank you.

Hi Pat,
this is truly a beautiful story, and I am so glad that you got to meet your son. How cruel is life and the things some of us are forced to do. I have no thoughts on adoption or abortion, they are a personal matter between those that it concerns and for no one else to judge. I think you are a very lucky lady to finally meet him and know that he has had a good life, others don't get that chance.
I hope you continue to enjoy the times you spend with him.
