Haha! What a fun read this was! First off, indeed you are right about Shakespeare. It made me laugh to think of what he might write in this day and age. I love that your reading one stanza and you think hmm...aww...OH! Didn't see that! LOL Loved it...keep this up! xoLeslie

This was an interesting piece. Good imagery. Fun to read, flows well. Transports reader to the time period. A good rhyming scheme. Just a pleasure to read.

Nicely done sonnet. I saw no flaws. But is on the ninth line like required. The costumes itself represent a metaphor. Awe, the exotic picture is busting loose! think my focus may be elsewhere? Words, honestly, what words? You dirty jester, lol! Hum..betcha you could get away with a lot of things in a faire in a jester costume? You are just playing your role. No harm done Mr. king, I was just frolicking in the courtyard. Are some delightful shameful words, haha. Must I point them out. Nice take on the sonnet. Clever in a naughty way, I suppose. This ain't rated PG. Buckle your seats. Suppose Pee Wee Herman would love to be invited to this faire. Hum... wonder what would he be? Answer: probably a pedophile on a bicycle honking his horn if you get what i mean? Cheers! Wow! this is killer word pornography that brings a corky smile to BOO's transparent mind. Hum.. even a ghost has a devious mind. Got my popcorn. Oh, this is naughty -- naughty Mr. Lion. I would give six plug nickles to be in this crowd. Here they are, take them! this is my fantasy too. BOO

This is what I think Shakespeare would be writing if he were here in this day and age. HAHAHA! Glad you liked this, my friend. I think you can tell I had a helluva good time writing this. The research was even more fun. LOL thanks a million, mikey

yep, i could tell that you had a ball, Lion King. Sometimes the research is just as fun as writing it. that jester sure looked comical. You know where to reach me. heck, i did not see these replies, I been having some glitches lately. Boogers.

absolutely loved this well-rounded (no pun intended) piece of work. Very creative and truly funny! though, not your typical romantic Shakespearean type of work...I loved it! Well-worthy of a six-star rating!!!! God bless and hugs, Susanne

Well, Michael, I think you did a fine job of impersonating Shakespear's persona as it would be today! God bless and hugs, Susanne

Yes, do tell. I don't think anyone believes a word I say here. HAHAHAHA! This was so much fun. It's totally true about those outfits. LOL. Some of the most conservative chicks I knew would don those dresses. I enjoyed the authenticity so much. A real tribute to those interesting times, very educational. Oh yes, I'm certain to win. They love anything to do with history and Shakespeare. I'm in and in deep. :)) mikey

Ha, what a lovely romp through medieval times at a Renaissance Faire, Mav. I believe that if Shakespeare were alive today, he would indeed be writing Shakespearean sonnets but of course in current times. His writes would be comedies, masques and farces within the 21st century.
Shakespeare was of course a genius at observing and writing about the human condition and all the foibles that entails.
I feel confident he would raise his mug at the George Inn pub and celebrate your "wee bit" of a ribald sonnet in his honour.
And naturally your sonnet is true to the Shakespearean sonnet form. I have one small "suggestion".
with maiden fare respectf'lly (politely) cleaved, of course,
I think you've done a fine, fine job and I wish you all the best in the contest. This is a most worthy contender. Here's to the Jester!

I so totally agree with you, Angel. He'd be having a field day with this screwed up world and they'd be laughing their asses off two hundred years hence just like we are now at his previous contributions. Can you imagine his reviews of some of the tripe that's produced here? LOL!!! "Perhaps instead of a crown you might wear this cap...."
Thanks sooooooo much for that word. OMG. I could not find it to save my life or my sonnet. Jeesh.
I'm so pleased you liked this. It was fun. I'm certain it's going to win, yes? Just what they're looking for no doubt. :))
Thanks a bunch,
Mav
