Yes, I agree. 'Buyer beware!' ...
internet sales
seduce credit card users
loan sharks in plastic
Those sharks are just waiting to grab us.

My cc companies hate me. I always pay in full. They don't make big bucks that way.
reply by Curly Girly on 06-Jun-2015
Good for you. CC debt is no joke.

Do the math. senryu (internet sales).' I did my maths a long time ago after cutting up eight Credit cards. I decided that I had had enough from the Card credit sharks, and took out only one Debit Card which allows me to use my own money interest free. Well done with this one, Shari.

When Nichole first met Jeff, he couldn't get any credit thanks to past unpaid debt. She won't allow him to have any cards now. Guess who controls that marriage.
reply by chasennov on 06-Jun-2015
Yep, I can just imagine. Take care, Shari.

I admit that I liked shopping at Amazon more when I didn't pay the sales tax. In WV, we pay tax on everything including food. The worst is the 18 cents per gallon of gas specifically for the roads. You should see the condition of the roads here. Shameful. This senryu should resonate on many levels...

That's terrible! I hate the sales tax on internet buys now too. The government gets us one way or another. Sigh...

This is a fine senyru that should generate a lot of "interest"
Hopefully not for the credit card companies. I've learned not to buy unless I can pay for it in full at the end of the month. No sense in paying for something twice or even more. If you're disciplined, you actually get free short term loans. Of course, disciplined is the key word.
Good connection between first two lines. Excellent satori line, Ah ha.
Great presentation, it's all written in black and white, in very small print.
Excellent

LOL The small print must be on the new site. Classic is different. But I'm glad you noted it as adding to the meaning.
Like you, I don't buy unless I can pay in full. Building up good credit is more important than anyone thinks.
reply by rspoet on 05-Jun-2015
The small print reference wasn't to your presentation, but the credit card interest rates I usually can't see. Not with these eyes anyway. Great senyru.

I enjoyed reading your senryu -it follows the 5-7-5 three lines format. it's focused on a brief moment in time, has provocative colorful images and it is written in a present tense.

I hate it when people blame the credit cards for their bad credit. I hear it all day everyday about how credit cards are the devil. WRONG! You know you're interest rate, you know what you can afford, YOU made the decision to buy whatever with said credit card. YOU are the reason you have bad credit. If it's an emergency and something happens and you have no choice but to use a credit card and something bad happens from that then I get it. It sucks but otherwise suck it up buttercup. Sorry, rant over. I got a little carried away. You did a great job with this.

LOL. You're absolutely right. As I said in my description-- do the math. I'll bet you're really cute when you get on your soapbox. What passion!

Bahaha! You should see me at work because I work retail. When I went to the dentist a month or two ago my dentist asked me if I clench my teeth during the day, there are signs of it, I said I don't know. He told me to pay attention and guess what. I clench my teeth throughout the day. I guess it's like biting your tongue

Ask your hubby if you grind your teeth at night.
reply by ExperiencingLiphe on 05-Jun-2015
Oh I do. I was actually at the dentist because I thought my problem was from grinding my teeth but this time it was from my clenching of the teeth. I grind my teeth at night and clench them during the day. My teeth love me.

I looked at the illustration for this one and had to chuckle. My rates are different each month. One month they re 33% and the next 48% and occasionally as much as 60%, but never lower than 33%. Mexican banks are terrible which is why I seldom use my card...just can't afford to. Great poem and excellent message. I like this one very much.

OMG. Talk about legal robbery. My credit card holders hate me. I always pay in the full. They won't make money that way. LOL
reply by Sasha on 05-Jun-2015
That's what I try to do too. Occasionally it doesn't work out, but most of the time I keep it home and in the drawer to avoid temptation.

There is a stern warning in your little senryu - how often have I fallen for the trap of just using the card, pretending that it's not real money - seduction indeed.

Your final line creates an interesting image with its use of 'plastic' to alter the more cliched loan shark metaphor.

Isn't this the truth?
I'm so glad I learned YEARS ago not to be seduced... (at least not by a card) *wink*
These things can really get you in trouble, can't they?

I like the last line, especially... 'loan sharks in plastic' (so true!)

Love this!
Cat

Yep, that's what they are. I never order from the internet. The actual item is never as good as it looked in the ad. I like to see it before I pay too much for it.
