Why I Should Never Review Poetry

They are very good examples of bad poetry and we see it all the time but if we reviewed them like that we would lose all our friends and have to leave the site ourselves. I am always wondering,"Who told this person he/she was a poet or author?"I have tried to correct some authors to just be ignored or told they knew what they were doing! I wish we could do that Ingrid. NO ONE DOES SO WHY SHOULD I? That is the FS code of conduct! LOL :<) Nancy

Because I have learned so very much from other members, I slip and slide into the pat answers dished out in most reviews, then into some solid feedback. Even those who claim they want serious reviews don't handle them well. If a reviewer is a constant, someone who returns to the work a writer posts, there should be an assumptive understanding between reviewer and writer that the work is entertaining, enjoyable and suggestions offered are there to help the writer move ahead. But it doesn't always--or usually--work that way. I've been told I'm too direct, brusque and even unkind. Lately my favourite phrase is 'oh well.'

I have a good relationship with most of the people who review me. I welcome suggestions and help editing. Some don't. It is the stars that makes up the difference in attitudes.
