It's interesting, personifying the piano, an old friend who had been there through the years, they can be a great distraction, for anybody that has been captivated by a musical instrument and it's charm plus it's ability to calm the "savage beast". Lovely poetic work, articulate and free flowing, descriptively expressive, great presentation, nice rhyming, even meter, good luck, blessings, Roy.

The presence of a true friend is always refreshing because you found in him/her the qualities that helps you to climb the hard way of life and everything seems easier when you know you have him/her always close. A lovely sonnet writing about these things.

Good luck!

Beautiful tribute to the life of both pianist and piano - both of which have gentle souls. Very thoughtful with very good imagery: "she softly offered refuge I found true." Also, very good description: "her iv'ry keys grow frail as thus do I." (simply lovely)

Now about the six stars - I identified strongly with this because my mother was a concert pianist, as is my daughter. Me? I am lucky to hack out a hymn or two, but music totally soothes my soul. I miss my old concert grand, but it has a new home now with my daughter for her and her young students.

You totally blessed my day with this ode! You seem to have met all the criteria in the prompt, and so I wish you all the best in the contest.

No matter - this is a winner with me!

Wow, thank you so much for the fantastic review and the big sixer, Veeb. I have to admit, I'm like you, can play a song or two but my mom's really the artist. She wasn't a concert pianist or nothing like that but she sure loves her piano. I'm glad to hear your mother and daughter have done so well with it. I dearly appreciate the gracious stars and good luck wishes, V. I'm humbled. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thank you again.
