LOL. This kind of goes against what my piece "We Are to Blame" is saying, but I still enjoyed toying with the idea of Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne trying to put together their own version of Sesame Street. I think at the end of the day though, maybe it doesn't matter what's on the telly and it's more about the parent who has planted their child in front of the boob tube and hasn't pushed him to do anything else, or taken the time to explain that it is a show, as in it's fictional, as in not real, as in entertainment. Anyways, I still liked this piece, good job on the 100 word entry, and good luck.

Wrong. Many things that are shown on television are not
influencing young person positively.
Parents must supervise and make sure that their choice of programs is suitable to their age. also a conversation would be helpful. Explain why they should not look at certain shows and eventually you will see how responsible some kids become, making good choices most of the time

Hi Lancelot,

Great story with a wallop at the end when you reference showing something on TV if it were bad for kids. LOL... Not a lot of good on TV period.

Well done. Good luck in the contest.

Cheers,
Keep Smilin... Jax

I was curious so I Googled Snoop Dog to read a bit more about him. Found out he's the coach for his kid's youth team, I think football. Doesn't seem to me like he would sponsor a kids' program filled with cursing and fighting??
You definitely make your point about influences on our children and how clueless some parents can be about them.

Thank you very much, Brooke. You have to understand, now that Snoop is mainstream Hollywood, a lot of his past is not talked about. Look deeper, and you'll see the real him.

the real him or the old him before he had a family and a kid? ;-)

Yes media is making significant inroads into our personal thinking - we feel almost 'out of kilter'if we don't succumb - when are we going to 'break free'.

Surprise, surprise. Violence begat violence. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

So Bert and Ernie are now gangsta. Who would have thought it could ever come to this? But it's Sesame Street, and it's a show for little children, it must be o.k. Where else can they learn how to get along in the world?

Oh, the irony. How gullible most of us are. I would probably fall into this category. You have made one strong valid point in so few words. Good luck in the contest.
