A Tear's Worth

Hi W.J.,
I like this poem. It's complex in its simplicity. Different chemicals are behind tears of laughter, anguish and allergic reactions. In this case, you mention the sun in his eye. Nicely written.
Hugs,
Lou

Very well written. And the mystery is held even after the poem ends. Like so many things, the tears can speak in different ways. Thanks for sharing this poem. Later, Jim

Comment from Dorothy Farrell
A moving free verse about a parting. 'No exclamations' - perhaps in view of only one tear 'No explanations' would be more appropriate. I think the writer would expect one! The last three short stanzas 'for all you offer is this solitary tear to mingle among my own' - I like that very much. Regards Dorothy

Great suggestion, Dorothy. The word "explanation" hadn't occurred to me. Thank you for pointing out the lines you liked so I know what worked. Debi

W.j.debi, a very provocative man powerful poem That enlists
a strong emotion Or may be sadness or grief or just A response to a natural phenomenon which makes you have a tear and this in itself leaves the other in question of how to interpret this tear. Confused and befuddled his own tear combines with hers forever in love. Thank you so much for sharing in posting this for others and may you have a good one always.

This could be interpreted in many different ways. Who sheds only one tear? Toward the end, you speak of accepting it, for all that's offered is this solitary tear to mingle among your own. For me it means that he can only give you this, that you gladly accept, for that's all that he can give. A wonderful write. . .Sharon

Hi W.J.
Simply done, but quite lovely. The artwork is really pretty with the little tear on the petal.
This could be entered into the 'betrayal' contest!
Well done.
Cheers,
Keep Smilin'.... Jax

how very sad to get no response other than a single tear, your poem makes a great effort at suggesting interpretations, but really, what could it mean? Your verse really made me think and I enjoyed it. I'm not sure the picture actually matched up, but it was still a great picture. Nice work
