This is a very informative and positive piece of writing. I totally agree with all of it. You are speaking to the converted, because I have followed the majority of what you have said. It is like going on a diet, it is important to stick to it if you want results.
Well done, I hope it does reach others to see the importance of taking control of your own life.
Well done. Mary

I enjoyed your essay on positive (healthy) thoughts as opposed to negative (toxic) thoughts. Solomon writes in Proverbs , as a man thinks so is he. I appreciate all you have written and agree that it is 'best' to think the 'best' of thoughts. . :-) Carolyn

Greetings Titanx9,
I don't think there is better consul on the planet than what is found in the Bible. Men keep trying to discredit it, but the Bible always proves to be true.
Positive thinking is nothing new, even King David realized that in the Psalms calling jealousy, "a rottenness to the bones" and declaring, "let all manner of thinking be chaste". How much better mankind would be if we turned to the wisdom of the One who inspired His spoken Word to be written and handed down to us. ;) Chrisfiore

I love that photo; it's of a very confident person. I also loved your first paragraph with a simile of the mind to built up wax. My mother admitted one day of leaving me in a closet when she had to run errands. She said that in an answer to why I was afraid of the dark. But I'm still afraid. I guess I always will. Thanks for posting and trying to help us.

toxic thoughts produce toxic emotions, which produce toxic attitudes, resulting in toxic behavior.
hmmmmmmmmm, they can also create great fiction/ I am not sure Dostoevsky or Poe were completely normal. This raises a question for me: If I had to choose, would I trade sanity or years of my life to have written THE MUrders oin the Rue MOrgue or Crime and PUnishment

This is one of the better reads I've EVER read on fanstory. More importantly it is TRUTH. One of the more renowned positive speaking motivators once said, and I hope I have the quote accurate. 'Think and it will happen, believe and it becomes.'
I hope everyone of fanstory reads this, as most writers have down days of self doubt and insecurity.
I congratulate on such a superb essay. Sorry I can't give you more points.

Comment from Phyllis Stewart
She believes a person can literally think themselves into any state in which they desire as all behavior begins with a thought. << Well, not ALL behavior does. Much is automatic and instinctive, but deliberate behavior certainly does.
?toxic thoughts produce toxic emotions, which produce toxic attitudes, resulting in toxic behavior.? << Makes perfect sense.
I've tried meditating many times. My mind always gets bored and wanders. Must be ADD.
I will have to try this... maybe even get the books. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks, Phyllis. I enjoyed this book, though it is not the type of book I usually purchase or read. Try this exercise if your mind wanders. Take a pencil and place it before you. Look at the eraser and think about nothing else for the next fifteen minutes. Do not entertain any other thoughts but the eraser. Do this exercise as often as time permits, and pretty soon you will find you will b able to control your thoughts. If you decide to do it, let me know whether it worked for you. Dossie
