Very, very good, Mike. You have a strong message here because of your use of strong verbs and clever ironic twists like here:
" a lingering doubt dripping slowly and congealing
in a pool where loneliness swims, waiting for irony"
Excellent job! Bob (Mastery)

You do expand the images of loss my friend. This was quite the train ride of words and meanings.. Was a bit to over the top for me as I had to linger on many of the lines to try and figure just where you were at or coming from..Please do not take that as knocking your work just my own personal like and dislikes. I have not read any of your other works so my opinion being based on just this one is not a fair judgement of what you have written..

I very much appreciate the honest review. That is the one thing that I do get from time to time. I do tend to get on the rambling train a bit! Not always though. Thank you for reading. I hope this is a great year for you. Looking forward to reading your work and hearing from you in the year ahead. mikey

I loved it from "I really do love" - - especially the parts about "it is real when" - -. I have to tell you that this is not one of m y favorites of yours (which I usually give too many 6's to). I'm afraid I found the first part a bit too wordy for my taste. Loved the ending and the author's notes, though.

This is brilliant writing, but I would expect no less from your pen. I Love it all but especially your powerful ending
And finally our grief
becomes the only love
that receives no response
and needs none
Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous new year 2014. May this year be the luckiest year for you that brings success and helps you in reaching the zenith of your true potential

Words of wisdom so eloquently expressed. Excellent opening line to set the tone and draw in the reader.
Several stanzas stand out just on their own.
Excellent imagery in
But scales are rusty and bolts are hard to come by
nothing weighs the same when gravity is a trick
a lingering doubt dripping slowly and congealing
in a pool where loneliness swims, waiting for irony
Truth in life is a cone with ice cream on the ground
The righteous condemn the germs and common pathways
The liar scoops it up like lightening without remark
and takes a chance that sugar is worth damnation
Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.

I have a touch of vertigo. I had no idea it could be so severe. It sounds awful. Well, hope you are feeling better and soon. Take care my friend. I wonder which one of us gets the Pulitzer this year? We could share I suppose.....
Comment from B. Diehl
" It is real when it sings
It is real when it dances
It is real when it is foolish
It is real when a thousand words
can't quite describe it
nor can a thousand more"
^ I love that. The pain of loss in nearly indescribable...so I appreciate this very much. Excellent work.

Loss is loss. Love is love. Grief is grief. There is no way we can change that and we each deal with it in different ways. Very emotional piece and well written
Loved this very dramatic ending
"And finally our grief
becomes the only love
that receives no response
and needs none"

Or, maybe you have been married for forty years and your spouse and lifemate has passed away. Or, a story that is all your own. Loss is loss. Love is love. Grief is grief.
You never get rid of the grief, I don't care what they say. I will never have closure, he is gone, I am alone and miss him. Good job Michael. Nancy

Absolutely. I very much agree and have things in my past that are just as fresh in my mind as they were then. I thought of you as well when I was writing this and some of the wonderful touching pieces you have written. mikey
