6 Stars for the song for Rose. I can even hum my own tune to your poem. It was written from the heart you can feel all the love and emotion. So beautiful and peaceful. Your poem brought happy and sad tears to my eyes and I thank you for such a elegantly written piece of work. BRAVO

Thank you so much for your lovely six on this one Tiffany! Yes, Rose left us this morning, peacefully, when no one was in the room. She will be missed. She was definitely a 'character'.

Well, 95 is a pretty long life. And going peacefully is the best way to exit. Love the use of "spiral" as it makes me think of the petals in a rose. A nice eulogy. Sorry for your loss, S.

thx spits - Rose and I weren't especially close, but she and Jeff, my husband, were. And she also had a strong relationship with my 16 year old son. A definite 'character' who will be missed. But a rite of passage, yes?

Condolences to you and your family.
Rose hears you now and has read this beautiful tribute to her, and it must certainly help her on her journey.
Thank you dear Sharyn for sharing it with us.

I think so, Ann. I'm so glad she just 'slipped' away at the end - so much easier that way. She was indeed a 'character' and will most definitely be missed.
Blessings,
Sharyn

A lovely poem to read and savour. It sounds like Rose is dying from something and somebody is sitting near her bedside, thinking this about Rose's life.

Six for making me cry!
Thank you for being who you are, Sharyn. For me, you too are bigger than life.
Your voice, your song, your presence in spirit undoubtedly played a part in helping Rose prepare for the party that awaits her.
Such a sweet goodbye you've written.
Sending you a hug.

Well I LOVE to make you cry Patti - you know me, I'm a drama queen, right? I'm glad she passed on peacefully. She was a heck of a 'character' and will definitely be missed. Blessings for your lovely six on this one Patti - huge hugs!:)Sharyn

The poem is quite romanctic, but you've taken a sensible, straight-forward approach to the death of an elderly loved one. We always say "there's never a good time to lose a parent," but at 95 we expect life to come to an end. What a nice touch to sing "Sunrise, Sunset" for her. Well done!

Thx so much Dave. Rose just passed away a couple of hours ago - peacefully. It was her 'time', but we'll still miss her. She was always larger than life!

Just amazing! I know how hard it is. We all gathered as my mother-in-law's time drew near. Though we all mourned the loss of this spitfire and keeper of the family's memories, the months and weeks leading to her death were excruciating. She was 92, had lost her sight, her hearing, her mind and was in horrible pain. We kept vigil around her and spoke to her the whole time believing that if we gave her permission to let go it would allow her to cross that threshold painlessly. Anyway, it was such a beautiful tribute--almost like a lullaby.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Wish I could six you!

Thx jj - sounds like we shared the same mother-in-law! The last couple of months have been difficult - my husband's been over in LA for that time. She's always been full of piss & vinegar and it's not easy to see that spirit disappear. Rose just passed away, peacefully, a few hours ago. I'm so thankful. And thank YOU for your lovely thoughts and reminescences, and for enjoying this piece and yes, you 'got' that it's written almost as a lullaby to ease the way.
Blessings,
Sharyn

I saw that in your notes. I know how difficult it is. Hang in there..I love that song Sunrise, Sunset. Keep her close in your thoughts and believe she's out of pain and singing and dancing up a storm with those who went before. It's the only way I can deal with death. :)

Sharyn, This is an absolutely beautiful poem for your mother-in-law, Rose. I loved every word of it. 95 years is a long life. Now she can walk the streets of gold with Jesus. Kat
